Inaeri

Inaeri are humanoids with insectile features. Their characteristics cover a broad spectrum from humanoid to insectoid—some possess additional arms, compound eyes, lantern organs, chitinous exoskeletons, or stingers. They also frequently possess attributes that allow them to blend in with various plants. The average height of a inaeri ranges from about 2 feet to 5 feet, but some inaeri grow up to 7 feet tall.   Their diversity means a range of abilties that there is no one defining characteristic. If they are more insectoid, they may posses a three-part body structure, an exoskelton, wings, and six appendages. But if they are more humanoid, they may only posses only one or two of insect-like characteristics. Inaeri have an average lifespan of 75 years and are one of the few species born from eggs as larvae or nymphs.   Many think they are descended from faeries that came to Altus during the Ancient Age given their diversity, but they do not typically posses any innate magical abilities like faeries. This could just be rumors spread to distance the inaeri from other mortal species.
