Negation is technically in the Force Field category of magic, although it's not exactly a physical barrier between you and a threat. Negation is used particularly against magical threats. Specifically, spells, enchantments, and incantations of a hostile nature. When the spell is cast, the opposing person or creature cannot cast or use magic of any kind. You, on the other hand, would be able to use your magic. That goes for any people or creatures considered friendly to you.
The Negation spell can be set up preemptively when you know there is a chance of a threat. When the threat occurs, the spell launches into action.

Effect
The Negation spell, when cast, disallows hostile persons or creatures from casting spells of any kind. Any and all magic they possess is effectively barred.
Side/Secondary Effects
After casting the spell, you may feel tired and sluggish afterward. The side effects of Negation spells aren't too harsh on your body, compared to some of the other spells in Abjuration.
Manifestation
When inactive, it looks like a large, turquoise circle. When active, the circle glows neon and hums slightly. Your hands feel sort of tingly when using this spell. Like pins and needles.

The ability to cast spells comes solely from your Ether, and your will. A strong will and a good amount of Ether as well as a Jo staff are required in order to be able to cast Negation.
Material Components
A staff, specifically a Jo staff, is the bare minimum to cast the spell. If there's any way to set up a circle in the area of the target, it'll increase the power of the When setting up the circle (or whatever), you should use some sort of chalk or paint. Something that's able to be used similar to chalk, anyway. Some crystals wouldn't hurt either- specifically . You're going to want to keep a good amount on you, in case you need to create a large circle.
Gestures & Ritual
When setting up the circle (square, hexagon, whatever), it's important to make sure the ends meet. While drawing the outline of the circle, say these words: "Bōshi shi, seigen shi, bōgai suru - teki no mahō no nōryoku o bōgai shimasu." - "Prevent, limit, interfere- Interfere with the magical abilities of the enemy."
Afterward, set up hematite crystals at even intervals all around the circle. Once finished, take your Jo staff and swirl it around and bang it's end on the floor. While doing this, say one of the following phrases;

- - "Subete no mahō o samatageru. Watashi igai ni wa nani mo arimasen." - "Interfere with all magic. There is nothing but me."
- - "Subete no teki no mahō o bōgai shimasu. Watashi to watashi no nakama dake ga sore o tsukau koto ga dekimasu." - "Interfere with the magic of all enemies. Only me and my companions can use it." When saying this, think about the things you would like to be considered friendly. Anything not in your thoughts will be considered hostile, and therefore Negated.

Depending on the size, laying the circle can take from two and a half minutes to fifteen. Casting the spell itself takes about fifteen seconds.
