Vosov Pandemic
The Vosov Pandemic first happened in the year 1195 EoS, when there wasn't much knowledge on radiation at the time. Despite having advanced technology, the inhabitants of Vosov used clean energy and never delved into radiation. There were also rumors of it being connected to a cargo battleship located just outside the gravitational pull of Vosov. The site of the battleship wreak is known as the CS Corsair.
Transmission & Vectors
The only known location of the radiation was just outside of Vosov, leading to many excavations near it to see what kind of technology could be taken for study. The excavating ships returned with the crew onboard showing signs of radiation poisoning. As the crew was looked over, their bodies were covered with a strange mark with black veins growing out from the marking. The longer they remained outside quarantine, the faster the radiation spread.
Causes
The marking that appears is known as the Dark Mark, a symbol that first appears like a tattoo but grows over time, jutting out of the skin and oozing thick layers of blood. The warship once carried radiated weapons from an unknown origin. The longer one remains near the ship, the faster the mark develops. When away from the radiation field, the mark takes longer to form, but slowly pulses while sending throbbing pain throughout the patient's body.
Radiation can still be spread from person to person, whether that be through offspring or someone with a mild or high dosage of radiation poisoning. It is advised to avoid anyone who is hinted at being touched by the dark mark.
Symptoms
A low dosage of radiation links to hematopoietic with symptoms like anemia. If the patient has spent a longer time near the wreak, they end up with gastrointestinal issues, like vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain. And finally, if a patient spends an undisclosed amount of time near the wreck, they gain neurovascular issues like headaches, nausea, and loss of consciousness, which is often fatal.
The skill will also blister and change, melting off the bone in extreme cases. Hairloss and blindness are subfactors of dealing with radiation poisoning.
Despite all this, the mark persists, reminding those that the radiation isn't normal. Something or someone created it.
Treatment
To treat such a horrible disease, one often undergoes skin grafts from the radiations burns. When radiation first appeared, people would just rub burn salve onto the skin. This had no effect as the skin would continue to break down and melt off until the patient died from the radiation.
