Rise of The Wraith Lords

As the Crown of Dominion passed through the hands of elven, dwarven, and human rulers, its dark influence deepened. What began as whispers of power grew into a slow, inevitable corruption that twisted the hearts of those who wore it. Kings and queens who once sought to protect their realms found themselves consumed by ambition, greed, and wrath, blind to the Crown’s true nature.

Over the centuries, the most powerful and prideful of these rulers succumbed fully to the Crown’s will, shedding their mortal forms and rising again as the first Wraith Lords—undead monarchs bound to the seven vices woven into the Crown’s spires. These beings, neither living nor truly dead, became eternal extensions of the Crown’s dark essence, ruling their fractured kingdoms from the shadows.

The Wraith Lords' rise heralded the slow unraveling of the great alliances. Kingdoms fell to internal decay as their leaders, driven by hunger for the Crown’s power, waged war against one another. This era of betrayal and collapse culminated in events such as the Fall of Lumispire (1395 BGW) and the 40-Year War (940 BGW), each conflict leaving behind ruins haunted by the echoes of these fallen kings and queens.

By the time of the Great War, the Wraith Lords stood at the head of the dark god Vyrakath’s legions, commanding armies of the dead and broken. When the Crown was finally shattered by Aurelion at the war’s end, the Wraith Lords did not perish. Instead, they retreated to the ruins of their former thrones, bound to the shards of the Crown, awaiting the day they might rise again.

Even now, the Wraith Lords linger—searching for their piece of the crown in hopes that it might give them the power they still desire. Those who seek The Shattered Crown in the dark corners of the world risk awakening these eternal monarchs, unleashing the corruption that still pulses within them.
