Elto

Before the stars blinked into existence and before the roots of the world took hold, there was only Elto—the eternal and boundless force of creation. He did not emerge from the void, for he was before the void itself, an unmoving light in a sea of nothingness.

In that endless stillness, Elto spoke the first words of power. From his voice came time, existence, and the birth of the universe. The stars took their places, the leylines spun like threads beneath the skin of the world, and the planes of mortals and gods began to take shape. This was the Great Shaping, the dawn of all things.

Yet, Elto knew that to shape was not enough. The worlds he had birthed would require hands to guide them, forces that could shape and mold existence without his constant will. Thus, from his light, Elto forged the Immatuar—the lesser gods who would govern and shape creation, each embodying an aspect of the world.

The Birth of the Immatuar

The Immatuar were not mere servants; they were fragments of Elto’s own essence, gifted with dominion over the threads of creation:

  • LeyaraThe Root of Magic – Breathed magic into the world, weaving the leylines and leystones that pulse beneath the land.
  • KragothThe Iron Fist – Shaped the mountains, seas, and unyielding spirit of war and strength.
  • LuminaThe Weeping Goddess – Carried the weight of death and mourning, guiding souls to the afterlife with gentle sorrow.
  • SolaraThe Radiant One – Cast the light of the sun and stars, bringing justice and order to mortal realms.
  • VaelithThe Keeper of Secrets – Guarded fate and the unknown, mapping the paths yet unwritten.
  • VaraelThe Whispering Wind – Spread the winds of freedom, unbinding the world and giving it movement.

The Immatuar became known as the Architects of the World. Their names echoed through mortal tongues, not as creators of the universe, but as the forces that shaped life and death, war and peace, light and shadow.

The Edict of Eternity

Though Elto gave his children the power to govern and create, he placed upon them a single, immutable law—the Edict of Eternity.

"No god shall walk upon the mortal realm. To place your foot upon the world is to become part of it, and in that moment, you shall forfeit eternity."

Elto understood the fragility of mortals, and he foresaw the ruin that divine presence could bring. By his command, the gods would watch from afar, their hands shaping the world through avatars, omens, and artifacts, but never directly.

The High Palace of the Immatuar, a celestial seat beyond the stars, became their eternal home—a place from which they could observe and shape the fate of mortals without breaking the Edict.

The Creation and Fall of Vyrakath

Vyrakath, the last of the Immatuar, was not born from Elto’s shadow, but from his intent. Crafted to test and temper the works of the other gods, Vyrakath embodied the forces of conflict, strife, and adversity. His role was necessary—a force to shape strength through hardship.

But where the other Immatuar found contentment in their roles, Vyrakath grew discontent. He watched as Leyara shaped the leylines and as Kragoth raised mountains and forged storms. Vyrakath yearned to create, not destroy.

Ambition festered within him, and desire turned to envy. He began to see Elto’s decree not as a safeguard, but as a chain that bound him beneath his creator’s will.

Vyrakath’s heart darkened with resentment and longing for power, and when Elto discovered his defiance, the Allfather cast him from the High Palace.

Vyrakath’s Descent and the Crown of Dominion

For centuries, Vyrakath wandered in exile, severed from the light of the Immatuar. He did not descend immediately into darkness, but his fall was inevitable.

As the War of the Two Moons ravaged the elven lands, Vyrakath saw in mortals a reflection of his own longing. He turned his gaze to Vaeril Dusktide, a Duskborn arcanist whose ambition mirrored Vyrakath’s hunger.

Through whispers that crossed the veil between realms, Vyrakath poured forbidden knowledge into Vaeril’s mind. In the shadowed forges beneath Ebonspire Peak, Vyrakath’s will took form as Vaeril forged the Crown of Dominion.

The Crown, black as night and crowned with seven spires, became a conduit of Vyrakath’s influence—a weapon not of rule, but of corruption.

Elto’s Silence

Though Elto watched from the High Palace, he did not act. Bound by his own Edict, he allowed mortals to shape their destinies, trusting that creation would endure even the encroaching shadow.

In the years following Vyrakath’s fall, the Immatuar grew divided. Some believed Elto’s restraint would doom the world, while others saw it as an act of faith in mortal resilience.

"Let the hands of mortals shape their world. Even the longest night yields to the dawn." – Elto, addressing Lumina as the War of the Two Moons raged.

Representation & Legacy

To mortals, Elto remains a distant and unknowable force. While temples rise in the names of the Immatuar, few stand in dedication to Elto alone. His name is spoken only in reverence, as the silent guardian who stands beyond the stars.   His light flickers in the leylines, in the first light of dawn, and in the eternal hum of the Weave. And though Vyrakath’s shadow lingers over the world, it is said that Elto’s flame, though distant, never truly fades.
