Aethis Sky-fleet
The Aethis Sky-fleet was a loosely-bound organization of pre-Imperial national space forces that was formed to standardize international military space efforts and streamline multinational responses to spaceborne threats. Its headquarters and leading body was the Sky-fleet Directorate, based in Di'im Avrai.
Eventually, as Aethi interstellar presence grew and needs changed, many of these norms began to change and the Sky-fleet Directorate itself was finally disbanded in the year AY 189 in favor of a new Stellar Central Command based aboard an orbital station. This Central Command was a hybrid system, designed to better centralize control of space assets while maintaining a sense of nations' sovereignty under the Imperium. This was wildly ineffective, however, and Stellar Central Command was quickly replaced with the fully unified Aethi Star Navy in AY 195 in the first year of Emperor Daraliad Irias'keior.
When the Directorate was dissolved and replaced with the Aethi Star Navy as part of the founding of the Aethi Imperium, many principles and norms of the Sky-fleet, including its conventional rank structure and central command facilities, were adapted and transferred to the new Star Navy. Even today, Sky-fleet heritage is still noticeable in many places in the Star Navy, including insignias and uniform designs.
