Galactic Eye

Though its heart is black without its touch the aether would not turn.

Written by Charlie Parker

Here sits the heart of the aether, all things orbit the galactic eye. Protected by the Primal Ring the Galactic Eye is unreachable, if a path through the ring has been found none have returned to speak of it. Unlike other phenomenon where observation produces data that suggests it's properties or function, the galactic eye reveals nothing, After countless generations of observations all that has been determined is that it has not changed, it is black, and it sits at the center of everything. It is no surprise that it is steeped in mythology & legend, believed by many as being the home of the Gods, though the topic of which God or Gods may live there has been the source of much bitter debate. This has been the classical view point for many years, the lack of any real data on the matter offers little to provide a more modern view on the topic.
Though the galactic eye is shrouded in mystery it is not so for the Primal Ring where the aether churns in a violent maelstrom. This tumultuous region spans 30 light years or so from the eye to its outer edge, the deeper one travels into the Primal Ring the more violent it becomes. Despite the violent nature of the region several expeditions have been launched to gather information of its nature. The most reliable heralds from Sir Twixxle Goldweave "It is as though the Aether gathers here then goes no further, perhaps sometime in the distant future the eye will have gathered all the Aether leaving nothing but itself & the Primal Ring."

Geography

The Galactic Eye has few features, at its center sits an enigmatic black orb. Its inky black surface streaked with the fires of the Primal Ring as a spectacle of their eternal deadly dance. What secrets lay hidden beyond its surface may not be knowable yet the question will always be asked.
Within the Primal Ring the aether becomes thicker & more violent the deeper one travels. Though not as dense at its edge, travel within the ring is limited to just a few light years. Beyond that it begins to rapidly get hotter until eventually nothing remains but the eternal flames that flicker against the blackness of the Galactic Eye.

Fauna & Flora

Within the Eye itself it is unknown if anything lives or not, those who have traveled into the ring suggest nothing lives beyond the outer edge. The process that eventually converts the aether into the eternal fires that border the eye makes it unlikely that anything would survive long enough to reach the core.

Natural Resources

Though limited to only a few light years the resources of the Primal Ring is abundant due to the shear density of the aether. Mining in the region has proven to be difficult due to the unstable nature and the intense heat of the region, though not impossible mining in the ring is far more costly than maintaining conventional mining operations in other regions.
