Greater Mark of Weakness

Major Necromancy Curse (Object)

Description. This curse is bound to objects to drain energy from any creature that touches them. A creature becomes afflicted after using the cursed item, leaving them weakened and diminished in both vitality and strength. The effect intensifies while in direct contact with the object, but the curse lingers even after contact ends.
Effects. When a creature touches the object they must make a Strength saving throw (DC 17). On a failed save, they become Cursed. While Cursed in this way, their Strength and Constitution scores are halved. While in direct contact with the item, they also have disadvantage on all Strength-based ability checks and saving throws.
Breaking. Ending contact with the item removes the disadvantage on Strength-based checks and saves, but not the curse itself. The curse on the creature can be broken by two subsequent castings of the Greater Restoration spell. After the first casting, the creature’s Strength and Constitution scores are reduced by 2 instead of being halved. If a second casting is not applied before the creature finishes a long rest, the curse regains its full strength. Alternatively, the curse can be broken by being the target of two simultaneous castings of the Remove Curse spell.
