Work In Progress
Welcome to Leycia, a small tidally locked landmass residing somewhere on the edge of the lower southern hemisphere’s Borderlands. The peoples of this rough and untamed region mostly keep to themselves, preferring to stay out of the affairs and conflicts of the bright lands.
Being so far out from the Lifebringers touch Leycia tends to have a pretty stable albeit cold climate, but every so often other continents and landmasses in the bright lands pass in front of Leycia and cause minor eclipse events. If these occurrences happen during a relatively slow period of the Lifebringers activity then this can often lead to periods of intense frost and snow. This bothers no one however as the lands bountiful forests, lakes and small mountains provide everything they might need to survive if livestock run low. Some people take to farming but only the hardiest of crops survive down here, just like its people.
Leycia can oftentimes seem harsh and unforgiving, particularly to outsiders who might be used to warm summers and calm springs. But to its people the lands are just as rich and bountiful as any other isle. The inner lands are vast, flat and sparse with little to no visible trees or shrubs of any kind. Insted the hills and plains are covered in rock and dark soil, which would seem rather barren if it wasn't for the bright yellow/green moss that seems to cling and coat to any surface that sees daylight. Fresh streams and rivers flow through this region being fed from two impressive mountain ranges, The Forseti and Bragi together help define Leycias shape and presence. These sources of water eventually make their way to the impressive Balder Sea, the largest of the islands water catchments and home to many who reside within Leycia.
There are a number of large stretches of forest that surround the outer edges of the Isle as well as the coasts of the Balder, these make for prime hunting grounds as well as providing plentiful fire wood and building materials. The trees that grow on the Isle are hardy and strong, consisting of various species reminiscent of pines, alders, conifers and junipers. In the foothills of the mountain ranges you might find smaller forests but for the most part these regions consist of weathered and rocky terrain with various types of stubborn shrubs and smaller flora.
