The stars are watching
Aside from the ones living on the highest floors of Blocks and Corporations, and those living Outside of the city, not many people have the chance to see the night sky. Even when the sky isn't overcast or too polluted to see more than a few levels above one's head, it is hard to find some time to look up on the few rare clear nights. In the Streets, looking anywhere but in front or around oneself usually means one could easily get mugged or isn't in a rush to go to work. In the Blocks, only a selected few get the outside apartments, and even fewer get the ones with windows to the outside. And why would they have time to spare to look outside, instead of sleeping the few hours they can, or going to one of the entertainment centers? In a Corporation, anyone who has even a few seconds to spare on not working lowers the profits of their workplace.
And so, the night sky is mostly a normal sight only to CEOs, the rich, and the ones far away from the city. And when watching them, they find out something some consider unnerving.
The stars are watching back.
The phenomenon is easily noticeable when observing the stars for over a few moments. The stars move around the sky, following the people walking below. When the target of their observation disappears from their sight, they either move in circles, seemingly "searching" for them, or immediately start to search for another target. Sometimes, they spread out, each observing someone else, and sometimes they bunch up into constellations when something especially interesting to them is happening on the ground. Some people even swore some of the stars get closer and brighter or dimmer at various times.
The stars are the souls of those who passed away, looking at their close ones.
A secret seed of truth
Theories
There are quite a few theories on how that is possible.- Stars are fake, they never existed. The lights in the sky that follow people are in reality a bunch of satellites spying on all the living beings. Who built them? Everyone who believes that theory will answer in a different way. Corporations? Aliens? Otherworldly creatures?
- Those aren't stars, they are hundreds of Weirds, that for now just observe the world.
- There is no sky. What people consider a night sky is a giant creature with millions of eyes, having its own reality show/ant farm.
- The stars are some Weirds that act like stream viewers and try to pick their champions for the Night of the Blinking Stars.
- There are no stars, this is Corpo propaganda and a test to see how easily manipulated you are so they can sell you more products!!!
- There are no stars, this is alien propaganda and a test to see how easily manipulated you are so they can take over the world!!!
- As if they already haven't ruled the world! Open your eyes, people!!!
While the nature of the stars remains unknown, lately, a few people reported that besides the stars, they saw something massive moving along the sky as if it was swimming underwater. Tendrils, tentacles, antennae, no one could tell for sure, because the things they saw were almost the same color as the night sky. The only thing they were sure of is that it was long and there were many of it.
