Kendall Forest
The Forest of Kendall lies East of Falstaff, taking up nearly all of the land between the capital and the coast of the Great Sea. For hundreds of years, the Forest of Kendall was the home of the wood elves, which were well-known to be its primary occupants. However, many of the elves here shared tales of something darker, and more twisted deep within the forest. Other stories speak of portals to the feywild that can be found deep within, if you know where to look.
Kendall's edges were also home to multiple goblin warbands and orc tribes, who once posed a persistent threat to the forest's fey inhabitants, as well as outsiders that came too close.
Natural Resources
Kendall Forest is home to a wide variety of trees, many of them hardwood and therefore excellent for construction. Some of the older residents of Thauzuassk may remember a time when the lords of Merope entered into trade deals with the wood elves in exchange for their permission to cut down some of the trees long the outer edge of the forest.
History
The wood elves that had called Kendall Forest their home were executed, proving too difficult for the illithids to control. While some pockets of wood elves are thought to have survived, the great tree cities that they once called home are now but ruins.
The orcs and goblins that had also called Kendall home are no longer present, mostly because they agreed to go to war against the mind flayers in the Meropian War. They emptied their encampments and villages en masse, throwing every bit of goblin/orcpower they had against them.
In recent years, the Thoon Illithid Supremacy has increased the demand for lumber, resulting in hundreds of acres of the forest to be chopped down. As a consequence, many of the druids that had operated within Kendall Forest were forced to fight back. This escalated into a fiery conflict where the mind flayers ordered vast areas of the forest to be scorched in order to flush out the druids that lived among the other forest denizens.
