House Spade
House Spade are the ruling family of the Great Marshes. They were elevated to kings of the Great Marshes after the Ironhart Conquest of Messanen. When the Ironhart’s came to conquer the original kings, the Boggans, the Spade’s were weak dukes that had an ever fraying relationship with the Boggans that was about to snap. Duke Spade and King Boggans couldn’t agree on a charter that allowed the Spades to reduce their taxes, granting them the funds to build better farms in their lands and stronger defenses from the encroaching Wildwüd’s and Wyndfara’s. Seeing the smallest sliver of an opportunity they and their 700 men were the only house to rally to the Ironhart cause.
Despite how inconsequential the 700 men were to the overall battle, after winning the Ironhart’s put the entire Boggans line to the sword and elevated the Spades to rulers of The Great Marshes. The Great Marshes have yet to be successfully invaded after the Ironhart Conquest.
