Rogue
System for Multi-Classing into Rogue
1. Thief Guild Acceptance
A Rogue often starts as a member of a Thief Guild, where they learn the core skills of stealth, lockpicking, and sneaking around without detection. This milestone represents the player's initiation into the underground world of thieves.
How to Complete:
- The player must seek out a Thief Guild, which can be found in major cities or hidden in less reputable areas. This could involve meeting a contact or passing a test to get into the guild.
- This could include a Quest for Guild Membership, where the player must prove their worth by stealing something valuable, completing a covert task, or gaining the favor of a guild leader.
- The player may need to demonstrate their ability to keep secrets, avoid detection, and use their stealth skills to navigate dangerous environments.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must receive Guild Acceptance into the Thief Guild, which may grant access to specialized resources, knowledge, or training. The player may also gain proficiency in Stealth and Thieves' Tools.
2. Minimum DEX of 14
Dexterity is crucial for a Rogue, as it enhances skills related to stealth, combat, and agility. The player must possess the agility necessary to perform Rogue-like actions.
How to Complete:
- The player needs to have a Minimum Dexterity Score of 14. This can be achieved by either reaching the required score at character creation or through leveling up, gear, or magical enhancements.
- The player could undergo a Dexterity-focused Trial, such as a series of agility courses or challenges that test their quickness, reflexes, and ability to perform precise, nimble movements.
Completion Criteria:
- The player meets the Minimum Dexterity Score of 14, proving that they possess the agility and finesse required for a Rogue. This milestone could also involve training to hone these skills.
3. Guild Tests
Once accepted into the Thief Guild, the player must pass a series of tests that evaluate their abilities in stealth, lockpicking, deception, and more. These tests ensure that they have the necessary skills to become a competent Rogue.
How to Complete:
- The player is given a Guild Test, which may involve a series of challenges or quests designed to evaluate their proficiency in key Rogue skills such as:
- Stealth (sneaking past guards or evading traps)
- Lockpicking (breaking into a secured building or chest)
- Deception (lying or bluffing to gain information)
- Combat (using finesse or agility to defeat enemies, possibly with sneak attacks)
- The tests may include real-life scenarios, such as stealing a rare object without being caught, or navigating a dungeon filled with traps and enemies.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must pass the Guild Tests, proving their competence in stealth, thievery, and survival. This would grant the player access to advanced training or higher-ranking guild membership.
4. Adventure Guild Quests
Rogues are not just thieves; they are adventurers who take on dangerous quests that require cunning, agility, and a willingness to operate in the shadows. This milestone represents the player’s initiation into more complex and dangerous adventures.
How to Complete:
- The player must complete a series of Adventure Guild Quests, which could involve tasks such as infiltrating a noble's estate, investigating a secret society, retrieving an item from a dungeon, or using deception and stealth to bypass enemies.
- These quests could also involve gathering information, scouting ahead for a larger party, or performing assassinations or sabotage.
- The player may need to work with other members of an Adventure Guild, proving their worth as a reliable rogue and resourceful adventurer.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must complete a series of Adventure Guild Quests that test their ability to think on their feet, work with a group, and rely on stealth and guile to succeed. This gives them practical experience that hones their Rogue skills.
5. Rogue Career Path
At this stage, the player is ready to formally commit to a career as a Rogue. This milestone signifies their decision to fully embrace the Rogue lifestyle, whether they follow a path of stealthy assassination, treasure hunting, or espionage.
How to Complete:
- The player must choose their Rogue Career Path, which could be aligned with one of the Rogue subclasses, such as:
- Thief (specializing in stealth and agility)
- Assassin (mastering the art of silent killing)
- Arcane Trickster (blending magic with thievery)
- Swashbuckler (focusing on finesse and agility in combat)
- This decision could be tied to a Final Guild Test, where the player must demonstrate their proficiency in their chosen career path (e.g., completing an assassination mission for the guild, pulling off a major heist, or bypassing a high-security area).
- The player might also undertake a quest to prove themselves as a Master Rogue, such as stealing an artifact from a well-guarded location or completing an intricate heist that requires both cleverness and precision.
Completion Criteria:
- The player chooses and commits to a Rogue Career Path, gaining access to the abilities and features that correspond with their chosen subclass.
Finalizing the Multi-Classing
Once the player has completed all five milestones, they are fully ready to multi-class into Rogue. The player gains access to the Rogue class and all associated features, such as Sneak Attack, Cunning Action, and the ability to choose their Rogue archetype.
Completion Criteria:
- The player gains the Rogue class and receives the benefits associated with it, including features that enhance their stealth, combat skills, and cunning abilities.
