Fighter

System for Multi-Classing into Fighter

1. Martial Training

Fighters are skilled in physical combat, and this milestone represents the foundational training required to become a proficient fighter. Players must learn basic martial techniques, physical conditioning, and battle strategies.

How to Complete:

  • The player must undergo a structured martial training regimen. This could be done through training with a veteran fighter, joining a military academy, or studying combat manuals.
  • The player should practice various types of combat, such as hand-to-hand fighting, swordplay, and tactics, through both theoretical lessons and physical practice.
  • Tasks could include physical fitness challenges, sparring matches, or learning the history and strategies of famous warriors and battles.

Completion Criteria:

  • The player must successfully complete a series of combat challenges or training exercises. These could include sparring matches, passing a physical endurance test, or achieving a specific level of proficiency in physical skills like Athletics or Acrobatics.
  • At the end of this phase, the player gains proficiency in Martial Weapons or Armor, or they can choose a Fighting Style that suits their character’s preferred method of combat.

2. Arena Practice

Fighters often prove their skills in controlled, competitive environments, such as arenas, where they face off against other combatants. This milestone represents the player’s ability to hone their combat prowess in public settings.

How to Complete:

  • The player must participate in arena-style battles, either in a formal setting such as a gladiator ring or in smaller, informal combat tournaments.
  • These arena bouts can be designed as single combat challenges or multi-participant events, where the player must fight other combatants in a competitive but structured environment.
  • The player may have to deal with certain rules or constraints, such as limiting the use of certain weapons or facing opponents who use specific combat tactics.

Completion Criteria:

  • The player must win a certain number of arena battles or reach a specified level of success in arena tournaments (e.g., defeat 3 opponents in one-on-one duels).
  • Success can be measured by victories, earning recognition, or defeating notable opponents, which would help the player develop a reputation as a capable fighter.

3. Weapon Training

Fighters need to be proficient in various weapons, as their versatility in combat is one of their key strengths. This milestone ensures the player has the necessary weapon training to fight effectively in different combat scenarios.

How to Complete:

  • The player must train with a range of weapons, learning the strengths and weaknesses of different types of armament, such as swords, axes, polearms, and ranged weapons like bows or crossbows.
  • Training could take the form of individual lessons, practice sessions, or specific quests to gather or craft weapons and learn how to use them effectively in battle.
  • The player might need to undergo tests of skill, such as hitting specific targets with precision, or demonstrate mastery of a particular weapon.

Completion Criteria:

  • The player must complete a series of tasks to prove their mastery over a specific weapon type. This could involve challenges such as hitting multiple targets at a distance, defeating an enemy using a particular weapon, or completing a combat test with multiple types of weaponry.
  • Upon completion, the player gains proficiency in a set of weapons or a weapon-specific combat technique, such as Two-Weapon Fighting or Great Weapon Fighting.

4. Gladiator Arena

Fighting in a gladiatorial arena represents the player’s dedication to combat, and it requires more than just physical prowess—it’s about survival, strategy, and mental toughness. This milestone is the culmination of the player’s journey to prove themselves as a fighter.

How to Complete:

  • The player must participate in a gladiator-style arena where they face a series of increasingly difficult opponents. This could be a major tournament or a series of one-on-one or group combat scenarios.
  • The arena might involve a mix of fighting styles, environmental hazards (such as traps or obstacles), and combatants with varied abilities. The player must prove they can overcome these challenges through tactics, endurance, and fighting skill.
  • The gladiator arena may also have a social or reputational element, where the player earns fame and recognition for their victories.

Completion Criteria:

  • The player must win or perform well in a gladiatorial event, earning the respect of their fellow fighters or the favor of the arena master.
  • Success could be measured by the number of rounds survived, the difficulty of the opponents defeated, or the player’s ability to adapt to challenging combat environments.

5. Guild Quests

Fighters often belong to combat-focused guilds or military organizations that provide them with resources, training, and missions. This milestone involves the player completing quests and missions issued by such guilds to prove their loyalty and usefulness.

How to Complete:

  • The player must undertake a series of quests or tasks that are related to combat, such as protecting trade caravans, leading a raid on an enemy camp, or retrieving an important weapon from a dangerous location.
  • These quests could be issued by a mercenary guild, a knight’s order, or even a military faction. They will test the player’s combat abilities, tactical knowledge, and leadership.
  • Guild quests might also include tasks that help the guild or organization grow, such as recruiting new members, defending the guild from enemies, or carrying out covert operations.

Completion Criteria:

  • The player must complete a set number of quests or missions that show their skill as a fighter and their ability to contribute to a larger combat-focused organization.
  • Upon completing these quests, the player gains the trust of the guild and earns the right to multi-class into Fighter, gaining access to the Fighter class features.

Finalizing the Multi-Classing

Once the player has completed all five milestones, they are ready to multi-class into Fighter. The player must either be formally inducted into a fighter’s guild, or undergo a final test or ritual to symbolize their new identity as a fighter.

Completion Criteria:

  • The player must pass a final test or be inducted into a prestigious fighting order or guild, where they gain access to the core abilities of a Fighter, including combat maneuvers, extra attacks, and combat expertise.
  • Upon joining a fighting guild or passing their final trial, the player officially gains the ability to multi-class into Fighter.
