Druid
System for Multi-Classing into Druid
1. Wildshape Favoritism
Druids are known for their ability to shapeshift into animals. This milestone reflects the player’s growing affinity with the natural world and their instinctual connection to the wild. Before they can learn the magic of Wild Shape, they must first exhibit an inherent bond with animals and the wild.
How to Complete:
- The player must perform tasks that demonstrate their connection to nature and animals. This can include actions such as taming an animal companion, helping a wounded creature, or spending time in the wild learning animal behavior.
- To complete this milestone, the player might need to interact with animals, such as feeding, healing, or communicating with them in some manner (e.g., through spells like Speak with Animals or Animal Handling checks).
- They must also exhibit respect and care for the natural world, avoiding needless harm to animals or plants during their quests.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must form a bond with at least one animal (real or magical) or demonstrate a significant act of kindness or reverence toward the natural world, possibly through a Wisdom (Animal Handling) or Charisma (Persuasion) check.
2. Survivalist Training
Druids must be skilled in surviving in the wilderness, particularly in harsh environments where the rules of civilization don’t apply. This training ensures the player has the ability to thrive in nature and understand its dangers.
How to Complete:
- The player must undergo survival training to learn how to gather food, create shelter, find water, and recognize natural hazards. This training could involve wilderness expeditions or guided lessons from a druid mentor.
- The player will need to complete tasks that require the use of Survival checks, such as navigating through a dangerous forest, foraging for medicinal herbs, or tracking wild animals.
- The training can be gained by spending a certain amount of time in the wild or working with a druid mentor to improve their wilderness skills.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must complete a series of Survival challenges or quests (such as creating shelter, finding food, or surviving an ambush by dangerous creatures in the wild) with success.
- They may gain proficiency in the Survival skill, allowing them to navigate and thrive in the wilderness like a true druid.
3. Commune with Nature
Druids are deeply attuned to the forces of nature, and they have the ability to commune with the natural world itself. To complete this milestone, the player must demonstrate a spiritual connection to nature’s essence and the ability to communicate with its forces.
How to Complete:
- The player must complete a series of tasks or quests where they connect with nature on a deeper level. This could include rituals such as visiting sacred groves, communing with elemental spirits, or meditating at sacred sites.
- The player may need to pass a Wisdom (Nature) or Intelligence (Arcana) check to access hidden knowledge from nature or interpret the natural signs around them.
- Alternatively, the player could be required to perform a spiritual ritual, such as standing before a natural wonder, participating in a full moon ceremony, or using spells like Commune with Nature or Divination.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must perform a significant ritual or act that allows them to commune with nature’s spirits or gain a moment of clarity from the forces of the earth, air, water, and fire. This moment will reveal knowledge or grant them a boon tied to nature’s power.
4. Study of Nature Magic
In order to become a druid, the player must begin to understand the mystical magic of nature. This could involve learning to harness the magic of plants, animals, and the elements that druids manipulate.
How to Complete:
- The player must study magic related to nature, either by reading ancient texts or seeking out a druidic mentor.
- They could be tasked with learning certain nature-related spells or undergoing trials that teach them how to use magic in harmony with the world around them. For example, they may learn how to grow plants, control animals, or use elemental forces.
- The player might need to spend a certain amount of time in nature studying the different creatures and elements or visit specific places of natural power (such as a sacred grove or a druidic circle).
Completion Criteria:
- The player must learn a set number of spells or complete a quest that helps them understand and utilize nature magic. Successful use of magic like Entangle, Goodberry, or Speak with Animals would be a clear sign of their readiness to multi-class into Druid.
- The player may be tasked with crafting a natural magic item or performing a ritual to attune to the magic of the natural world.
5. Join a Commune
Druids are often part of a larger druidic society or commune, where they are taught the ways of the Druidic Circle. To fully embrace their role as a druid, the player must join such a group, either to receive further training or to prove their worthiness to their spiritual community.
How to Complete:
- The player must seek out and join a druidic commune or circle. This could involve traveling to a secluded grove or sacred site to be initiated into a community of druids.
- During their time in the commune, the player may undergo tasks that test their ability to work with other druids, such as gathering sacred plants, protecting a sacred site, or aiding the commune in a time of crisis.
- The player may need to gain the trust and approval of the leader or elders of the commune, which could require completing a quest that benefits the group.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must officially join the commune by completing a significant task that proves their commitment to nature and the druidic way of life.
- Upon joining, they may be granted access to the secret knowledge of their Druidic Circle, marking the final step in their journey to multi-class into Druid.
Finalizing the Multi-Classing
After completing all five milestones, the player is ready to multi-class into Druid. They can approach a leader within the commune, or a high-ranking druid in the community, to be formally initiated into the Druid class.
Completion Criteria:
- The player must have completed all five tasks and proven their dedication to the natural world, survival, and the mystical arts of the druids.
- The player is now considered a member of the Druidic Circle and gains the ability to channel nature’s magic, take the Druid class, and access all of its powerful abilities and spells.
