Rune Mages – Ranks and Specializations
Ranks of the Rune Mages
The society of the Rune Mages is strictly structured and follows a clear hierarchy that defines each mage’s development and specialization. Novices – Frostborn individuals with magical potential who have not yet received specialized training. Acolytes – Advanced students nearing their final examination who have chosen a magical path. Rune Mages – Fully trained mages who have specialized in a particular field. Hall Leaders – Experienced mages elected as heads within their respective magical disciplines. Rune Master – One of the Hall Leaders, appointed as the head of all Rune Mages.Magical Disciplines of the Rune Mages
Mages specialize in different halls, each defining their magical orientation: Hall of Healing and Alteration (Ljosheym) – Magic for healing creatures and Frostmen, as well as altering bodies (resistance, speed, size, flight, etc.). Hall of Combat (Skjaldborg) – Battle magic with offensive and defensive spells, magical weapons, and armor enchantments. Hall of Control and Influence (Hugrheim) – Control over animals, enchantment of thoughts and emotions (fear, love, friendship, rage). Hall of Names (Ísvaldur) – The frostglass archive containing the names of all Frostborn born in Galdra. Hall of Knowledge (Galdarskrift) – The library in Galdra, the largest collection of knowledge among the Frostmen. After passing their examination, acolytes choose a hall according to their inclination. This does not mean they can only cast magic in that field – rather, it reflects a personal preference. A talented healer may still be interested in combat magic and join the Hall of Combat, even if their strongest gift remains healing.Ranks of the Rune Mages
