Stone of Destiny
Summary
Legend tells of a powerful artifact, designed and deployed by Lyir, the god of all that is good in the sea. The stone was originally created to uncover people who were worthy to become a Champion of Lyir, to defend his tenets and carry out his will. The stone is actually a huge boulder, which is not necessarily apparent from its name - some who hear the myth might imagine it is something they can carry in their pocket. For years, young children who would one day be eligible to join the holy order were brought to the Stone to identify if they would become Champions. Those already in the order of some divine power join together around the Stone, combining their ability in a ritual similar to the spell Commune. Meanwhile, the chosen child being subject to the divining is set in the center of the ring, and instructed to climb atop the Stone, barefoot. Via the ritual, if a Champion is found, the Stone hums with an energy that becomes tangible in the air, and a vision is sent to the Champion from Lyir himself, giving them a direct path to follow along his will. They would also be provided with the relics of Lyir to bolster their strength, but the relics have since been scattered about since the loss of the last Champion of Lyir.
In Literature
Arannis Lathalas writes of this stone in his Ruminations on the Feywild: Gates Among the Material Plane as part of a story about the vessels of Lyir, marking the Stone as an old relic of Lyir, and ties it to the Archfey Falias as well through the story of Queen Rias giving proper burial to the Champion of Lyir.
