The Queen's Coven
Little is known of the members of the Queen's Coven. Founded in XXX this order of witches was created by duchess Marchelle Vaymore. At the time the small duchy of Glimmermeer had a troubled relationship with the Council of Arcane after The Infiltration incident. The people of the area were apprehensive of the magic wielders and their intentions. To mend the relationship between the duchy and the magical organisation the queen employed a small group of witches to be her magical council. She made this to be a great show of unity between the two organisations, but secretly she used the coven as her own magical defence force. She would regularly send them on secret missions against external magical forces that wished harm to the small county. Soon the influence of the area began to grow and the people prospered under the rule of the king. The official story was that the king was blessed and a wise ruler. The truth was that the queen would use her personal magical entourage to engage in activities that the neighbouring kingdoms would not consider due to their bigotry and closed mindedness. These would include scrying for profitable trade deals, elemental magics to help with crop yields as well as protective charms to ensure less loss of life and destruction of property during storms or bandit incursions.
When the queen stepped down from her position after her husband had died the new queen adopted the coven and continued their contract. This became a tradition among the queens of the duchy which stretched for many decades. This continued use would ensure the duchy would grow in the years that followed and reach new heights.
