Nomos
In philosophy and religion, Nomos is the word used to describe the capacity for civilization, unique to several species (the Great Races), all believed to be derived from the distribution of an Antiquity's own capacity for self-reflection. The word comes from Old Berytusian, and literally means "spirit of the law", referring to the abstract concept of justice. Nomos is believed to be a meta-universal law and grants the capacity for the four virtues of justice, fortitude, prudence, and temperance to the Great Races. The fact that all races consider these four to be paramount virtues regardless of religion or philosophy would seem to lend credence to this theory.
In the Acacian religionss, Nomos is considered to be an imitation of God's own self-reflective capacity.
Several experiments have been conducted with regards to transference of Nomos. Thus far it seem impossible to transfuse Nomos through any means except by Antiquities themselves.
