Rune Cannon

After The Great Connection, technology from Avak began slowly spreading across Tesia as intercontinental trade grew, bringing the powerful arcane weapons of Efthemia to the The Marrow Isles. Lacking the kind of power needed to fuel such weapons, however, The Blackley Company took the concept and adapted it into the more practical form of the Rune Cannon.

A Rune Cannon is similar to a regular cannon, though its projectile velocity is nearly ten times greater. This is achieved with Ninium bands around the barrel that trigger in quick succession upon gunpowder ignition to propel a cannonball at ludicrous speeds. Typically this is a mid-size ball, from between 10 to 8 pounds.

The typical velocity of a rune cannon ball is a little over 3000m/s, near the top range of hypersonic speeds.
