Kraken
Krakens were originally created by the goddess Halcyone to serve as the apex beasts of the Tesian waters. Few aquatic creatures can match the might of a kraken.
Variation
There are several different classifications of kraken, varying greatly in both appearance and behavior.
Cephaloid
These krakens are most similar to octopuses and squids, bearing many powerful arms, large heads, and either a mouth or a beak. They are the ultimate nightmare of any sailor. Territorial, aggressive, and dauntless, cephaloid krakens have been the doom of many great seafarers.
Nautiloid
These krakens typically bear a very large shell that they can hide completely within. They are known for being incredibly tough, though noticeably less aggressive than other krakens. Nautiloids have been recorded remaining motionless for years, becoming fixtures and protectors in the habitats of other marine life.
Carcinoid
These krakens resemble enormous crabs, lobsters, or other similar shellfish. They vary in the number of legs, arms, and eyes they may have. They have gained a reputation for being unambitious predators, usually only hunting small, easy prey.
Icthyoid
These krakens are not typically understood to be krakens by the common sailor. They vaguely match the appearance of enormous sharks, eels, or other typical fish. They are not commonly known to attack ships with regularity, with most of their scuffles with sapient species due to being hunted for glory, or being mistaken for large conventional fish.
