Gnoll
Gnolls are four-limbed, canine-like beasts. Their back legs are very much like a dog's, yet their front "legs" resemble a primate's arms.
They quite frequently swap between a bipedal and quadrupedal stance, using the former while fighting and the latter for speed.
Gnolls are a peculiar oddity among beasts and monsters, as they are one of a minority of species that prefer to prey on sapient species. They themselves bear only a rudimentary sentience, similar to that of a corvid, yet are known to frequently attack the settlements of humanoids. When all inhabitants of a settlement have been killed or removed, the gnoll cackle moves in, using the structural remains as dens.
It has been observed that gnolls will hunt smaller beasts the same way canines or large felines do, pouncing onto them from all-fours. However, when hunting humanoids, they will stand upright and, though unskillfully, wield weapons. These weapons are usually scavenged from corpses, but a gnoll will sometimes opt to just use a big rock or a large stick, as they have very little recognition of a weapon's effectiveness. Still, when injured and panicked, a gnoll will return to its quadrupedal stance and once again act fully bestial.
