Construct

A construct is any living, synthetic being, including all levels of autonomy. This term is contentious among synthetic beings possessing high levels of sapience, however, and different terms are often preferred.

Synthoid is commonly accepted as a polite term for fully autonomous and sapient constructs, such as those produced in Avak.

Automaton is generally used for constructs with full autonomy but incomplete sapience.

Robot and golem are almost exclusively used for beings with little to no autonomy, and only a basic level of cognition.

A construct that possesses full sapience but has little autonomy is rare, and usually occurs only in cases of unethical or cruel creation practices. Such situations can also occur when a synthoid becomes unconventionally enthralled by an outside source. There is not a generally accepted term for this kind of unfortunate being.
