Gelbes Loosetail
Basic Information
Anatomy
Gelbes loosetails have fox-like heads and cat-like bodies. Their coats tend to have a base color of yellow to light beige and are covered in black to dark brown stripes, which allow them to more easily blend into the tall, yellow, reed-like grass of the Gelbes Plains. Their tails appear thicker due to their longer hair and also follow the same striped pattern as the rest of the body.
The name "loosetail" comes from an apparent defense mechanism they present when chased or seized by predators. The creatures run from predators while whipping their tails behind them. In the chance the predator makes the mistake of seizing or otherwise latching onto the tail, the gelbes loosetail can flex a muscle near the base of their tail to detach it, leaving it still whipping for a few minutes as a distraction while they get away. After losing their tails in this way, the animals tend to regrow them in 1-2 months.
