Dernosomme
Dernosomme is a holiday observed primarily in Telluscia. While Dernosomme is a boisterous, nearly city-wide celebration, its practice is mainly focused around the idea of putting the dead at ease in their final rest, dissuading any lingering spirits from becoming fully manifested undead.
History
As the story goes, the celebration stems from a ancient ritual to stave off the awakening of the deceased for one more year, renewing a sort of magical protection against the undead.
Execution
In Telluscia, modern day Dernosomme is celebrated as an extravagant party, stretching across the city's down town and commercial districts. Participants don cloaks, masks, and other outfits representing spirits and the dead. They parade through the streets, dancing and taking part in revelrous activities and games. The outfits are meant to mimic spirits and the dead, the exuberance proving to those dead that they can still have fun in the afterlife, without needing to return to the land of the living.
Observance
Dernosomme is celebrated on the 35th of Gurdyn during the month's second full moon .
