Humans
Humans are by far the most common sapient species on Terrilia. Over the millennia, they have colonised every corner of the world, becoming more and more diverse, to the point where some groups do not recognise each other as human. Indeed, it is suspected by some that elves and dwarves are the descendants of humans who settled in Vis rich and poor areas, respectively. This increasing diversity has been a source of endless conflict between the various human factions ever since they began their worldwide migration from Azunas.
For most of human history, humans were nomadic hunter gatherers, only settling down in particularly fertile lands to farm. Over the last few millennia, humans developed more advanced techniques for farming, allowing for larger settlements, and the birth of city states. From there, progress has snowballed, rapidly moving from city states to national and then international empires, resulting in the network of republics, kingdoms and empires seen in the world today.
Magic
Average Humans
Like every living thing, humans have an Anima, which directs the flow of Vis in their bodies in order to grow and nourish them. However, as a sapient species, the strength of their Anima is almost always enough to consciously direct the flow of Vis, both within their body and in their surroundings. Each human has a unique Anima and amount of Vis but typically, with some training, a human will be able to perform at least minor magical acts such as sparking flames and lightweight telekinesis.Mages
Rarely, a human may be born with a significantly stronger than average Anima, and possibly an excess of Vis too. These humans are known as mages in the common tongue. Mages are capable of much more advanced magic, including short to midrange teleportation, heavier telekinesis, and manipulation of Materia. The response to mages varies worldwide, with some cultures revering them, and some kingdoms exiling or even killing them for fear of being overthrown. Most nations and empires tend to train mages from the upper classes, while taking away mage children from the lower classes for use in their armed forces, or for magical tasks for which they cannot spare a high class mage.Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The human race is thought to have originated in Azunas many thousands of years ago, and migrated across the world over the course of centuries, colonising each new region as it was discovered. Not much is known about the migration patterns of ancient humanity, but the evident result of this mass migration is the presence of humans on every continent.
Civilization and Culture
Average Technological Level
The level of technology varies between cultures, but most of humanity has recently undergone the Industrial Revolution, leading to an explosion of Vis powered technology in almost every nation. Mass production in factories using Vis Steam Engines is now commonplace, though frequently a low level mage is still required to maintain the Vis flow.
For transportation, huge steamships can carry large quantities of goods or people across oceans far faster than in the past, and steam trains running on national rail networks provide for a way for people and goods to quickly travel within a nation.
Lifespan

Average Weight
50-80kg
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The skin colour of humans varies between a pale white, and deep brown, almost black.
