Deities & Religions - Overview
Terestria is home to many diverse societies, each of which has their unique beliefs, laws, and restrictions pertaining to deific entities. The diversity of each societies outlook on divinity makes it difficult to formulate accurate generalizations about the topic. However, a few things are widely agreed upon as they are supported by historical evidence:
Deities once walked the material plane, but have been unable to traverse to the material plane since The Divergence.
Deities maintain the ability to influence events on the prime material plane through using magicthey manifest through their followers
A war known as The Calamity was once fought between two groups of deities, known as the Betrayer Gods and The Prime Deities
Many Betrayer Gods are viewed as self-interested and malevolent while many Prime Deities are viewed as benevolent, but this tends to vary drastically between societies.
Mortals beings have, in the past on rare occasions, apotheosized into deities.
Deities have been killed by exceptionally powerful mortal beings.
