Particles in Dhalos

Disclaimer

The following content is based heavily on particle physics from the real world. Because it is so heavily based in reality, the basics of particle physics will not be discussed. For more information, you may find helpful videos on YouTube relating to The Standard Model, and Elementary Particles. Various terms from the actual science will be used without explanation, so if you run into one of them, more information may easily be found online. These terms may include: quarks (up, down, charm, strange), leptons (electrons, positrons, neutrinos, and their equivalents), baryons/hadrons (neutrons, protons), hyperons (hypernuclei, pentaquarks), bosons (photons, gluons, Higgs, and Higgs field), anti-matter, strong and weak nuclear forces, electromagnetism, fundamental forces, valence/valence shells/covalence, etc.. This YouTube video may help understand the basics.

Magic: The Fifth Fundamental Force

Within the universe of Dhalos, there exists a unique combination of elementary particles that are not always found in other universes. The driving force of the fifth fundamental is the thaumon, which facilitates magic in the same way that the Higgs particle facilitates mass. Unlike the Higgs particle, which exists within three spatial dimensions, the thaumon exists, evenly spread throughout within six dimensions. For more information about the dimensions of this universe, refer to Extra Dimensions.

Carbon-based Life

Humans, their descendant species, and other lifeforms which did not originate from Dhalos are considered carbon-based lifeforms, being comprised of matter formed from various first generation baryon particles and electrons. Due to this fact, they are inherently non-magical, as the particles may only interact with three spatial dimensions at a time.

Pentaquark Life

Life originating from Dhalos are comprised of various pentaquark particles, and are therefore able to innately access magic across the fifth axis (see: Extra Dimensions). Some species, such as metallic dragons, share a similar composition, allowing them to access magic at birth, yet the randomness of their species often leaves the magic which can be accessed unpredictable.

Anima and Souls

All beings with souls are capable of building up a deposit of specific pentaquark hypernuclei which can allow them to access magic. By slowly fusing these particles to their own soul over time, they are able to control a lepton particle called the phrenion, which interacts with the thaumon field, resulting in the casting of magic. A soul itself is made of various pentaquark hyperon variations. Some species are rare in the sense that their souls are stable after death and may be brought back to life, or even exist within an afterlife. Souls are formed from refined or decayed anima, a powerful energy source responsible for the creation of a universe. Anima itself is a particle which consists of more than five quarks, including third generation particles.

Blue, Green, and Red Atoms

When The Three Creators populated Dhalos, they designed an environment in which a limited number of stable forms of pentaquark hypernuclei exist which are able to freely interact with the thaumon field. This is to say that The Three Creators allowed for three seperate styles of magic to be used. Due to the nature of these molecules, and the requirement of a soul to manipulate them, fusing more than one type to a single soul is impossible, resulting in one cancelling another out. These molecules responsible for magic are collectively called hemitrons and their three forms determine which style of standard magic can be accessed.   Each style has its own unique composition, and each branch of magic is a result of the combinations of second generation quarks. Examples are shown below:
Legend
  • + = up (u) or charm (c)
  • - = down (d) or strange (s)
  • ! = antiup (ū) or anticharm (c̄)
  • ? = antidown (d̄) or antistrange (s̄)

  • Displacement: c̄ūūd̄u * 2s̄dduu * 3d̄suuu * 4ūcuss (Strange Charge: -1)
  • Many patterns can be observed above. First of all, the Nuclear Charge relates to the number of phrenions a stable molecule will have orbiting it. The Strange Charge differentiates the molecule from that of others within the same style of magic. As a result of this, gaining more power in a single branch will allow the caster to fuel the abilities of other branches within the same style (blue, green, or red), but gaining access to specific abilities remains branch specific. The number of unique atoms within the nucleus relates to the number of spatial dimensions that the given style is able to dominantly access.   Due to the specific configurations, blue magic is able to access all standard magic with extreme amount of energy, giving rise to the branch of white magic known as sampling. Due to green magic sharing its neutral particle with all other styles, its higher magic is universally accessible. The large antimatter particle within red magic atoms is primarily dormant, except within the disfigurement branch, but under extreme circumstances, when all branches of magic are used simultaneously, total annihilation of matter is possible, giving rise to the branch of teal magic known as relinguishment.

    Magic Colours

Standard magic relates to the colours blue, green, and red, however, the colour is not produced by a wavelength of photons. Instead, the human eye interprets the energy it sees as the three primary colours. Higher magic acts differently in some cases.   White magic appears the way it does due to multiple factors. The first is that the three primary colours combine additively to produce white, however, because magical light and photon light acts differently, the true colour which is produced depends heavily on a number of additional factors, but the closest colour that humanoid eyes can interpret is white, and the mechanics of these additional colours is not well known.   To those who can see the proper higher magic colours, relinquishment magic is often referred to as the shadow of magic. To create an approximation of the colour a humanoid can see, one can imagine the CMYK colour model where yellow and magenta create red. If cyan is overlapped, it will create blue with meganta and green with yellow. Overlapping all three, or cyan with red, creates black. To a being who can see true magical colour, it is described as a magical shadow, similar to the black which humanoids can see. Without this type of vision, however, it is interpreted in a skewed way. Because cyan is opposite of Red when three CMY circles are overlapped, and because teal magic requires all forms of magic to be cast, the light which humanoids can see shifts away from the red, causing a cyan/teal colour to be interpretted instead.   White and teal magic of often known as bright and dark magic, respectively, due to their respective constructive and destructive colour interference. White magic allows access to all standard styles, while teal requires access to all styles, both standard and higher. Universal magic, on the other hand, provides access to all standard styles, causing its colours to split subtractively into the CMY colour range. Similarly to how tela magic is caused by a push away from its primary colour across the CMY colour model, so too is purple magic, due to its connection to and synergy with multiple styles of magic. Because of the position of colours which represent time and life magic, which lie between the powerful branches of relinguishment and aura magic, time and life magic are similarly pushed away from black when interpreted by humanoids, however, this push comes from the neighbouring magenta and cyan into yellow.   Finally, the non-teal branches of dimensional magic tend to stay closer to their primary red colour, as they are not affected by the same forces as over branches of higher magic. As a result, The difference is only minor, being affected slightly by the teal and yellow, pulling its colour into the spectrum which humanoids view as similar to orange.
