Wanderer's Guide to Dendralis

The Wanderer's Guide to Dendralis is a pulication of the Historians' Collective which provides a thorough overview of the continent of Dendralis for travelers and locals alike.

Creation

The very first edition of the Wanderer's Guide was printed in 632, 3E as a response to the increase in travelers making their way into the Greenwood, many of whom met an untimely end. As such, this first publishing was heavy in information about the Greenwood, particularly the accessible Eastern region of the Greenwood. The second edition would not be released until 683, 3E - the final edition which was supported exclusively by the Historians' Collective. By the third release in 701, the Emerald Shores Alliance had become the primary financial backer for the guide, and with this, the focus of the guide shifted away from the Elflands to the lands of mankind.

Publication

The Wanderer's Guide is printed and released in a single large batch every time an update has been made to the work. Updated editions are typically printed around every 12 years, with 20 years being the maximum length between printings. Large updates to the guide are rare, however, resulting in editions typically having a shelf life of 50 years or more.   Funded by the Emerald Shores Alliance, the information in the guide is weighted towards the areas that are most ripe for tourism, and lacks detail of the regions which are less safe for travelers to engage. With this weighting, the ESA encourages travelers to remain in the lands of mankind, boosting the local economies. The Olosse Elders have officially endorsed this practice since the late 700s as it helps to stem the flow of travelers and tourists into the Greenwood and other natural regions of Dendralis which they seek to protect.

Editions

The most recent edition - the 847, 3E edition - features one of the largest updates to the guide in nearly a century. In this edition, the geographic section was expanded to highlight over twice as many geographic regions. As more travelers began to arrive to Dendralis, many were finding themselves in reaches that the guide failed to mention, and has resulted in over 50 deaths since the start of the 830s. By highlighting more regions, the authors hoped to sway anyone but the hardiest adventurers from venturing to these lands.

Great overview of Dendralis. I like how it's written like a travel guide.
