Dunmainess

Dunmainess is the capital and largest city in Vivannia. It is also the most populous city in the world, having a population of just under 9 million. It is also the largest city in the known world in terms of its area. It was founded in the year 6 A.V by The Voyager. Due to its large amount of churches and grand cathedrals, Dunmainess is classed as a Cathedral City. It is also the centre city for the religion of Voyagerism.

The city is located underneath The Western Peaks in the western region of Vivannia. The city shares borders with Lawley, Corbett on its eastern side, and Highfield on its northern side.

Government

The Theocratic Government of Vivannia is based in Dunmainess, being the central city for Voyagerism.

The Consequence
The Consequence are a policing unit based in old Vivannia. They have been around since the start of crime, with the organisation being founded in 100 A.V, as settlements in Vivannia have grown sufficiently.

In Dunmainess, The Consequence are located in Rosewood Base, and police the city. Due to the lack of crime in Dunmainess, the police force is small in number. The population of Consequence Officers in Vivannia is around 10,000, with approximately 4,000 of those situated in Dunmainess.

Defences

Central Dunmainess is surrounded by a city wall, and is inhabited by the wealthy. The wall was originally built to protect the rich from the poverty living in the slums, and served that purpose up until the 5th century. This isn't the case now, as the poverty were funded by the wealthy, allowing them to have more stable living conditions.

Inside the city wall is Rosewood Base, which has been used by the military since it was built in 200 A.V. This, alongside the city wall, was used as defence against the povery before the 5th century. It is still used for policing today, however the demand for police has plumetted. It is used as a shelter for soldiers who are staying in the city on duty.

The Rosewood Dynasty manor is on the eastern side of central Dunmainess, and is cornered by The White River. Guards from The Consequence protect each side of the raised bridge, and guests need a permit to enter.

Industry & Trade

Dunmainess is highly resourceful for its clean water. The area in which water was first distributed the water from the mountains is Highfield, which became its own seperate district in 834. Nobles from Dunmainess invest in the water supplyers in Highfield, who give a percentage of sales back to the nobles from their businesses.

Stone and ores are also resourceful in Dunmainess, as ores that are usually found deep below ground are pushed up with the mountains. Miner factions such as Cavetime and Houndstone created strongholds underneath The Western Peaks, which is also funded by the nobles in central Dunmainess.

Despite being rich in ore and water, wood is not easily aquired in the region of Dunmainess, as fields and woodland was cut down completely by 700 to make room for accomodation. Wood is mostly imported from Westwood, which is a district known for its heavy woodland. Wood is high in importance, as paper for journals are required for Journalling. Once the wood is imported to Dunmainess, is it made into special journal paper, which is sprayed with water imported from Peters Finger.
