Lycanthropy

Definition:

Lycanthropy is a supernatural condition caused by the ancient curse of the forest guardian upon the sorcerer Varkul and his bloodline. It binds those afflicted to the cycles of the moon, forcing a transformation into a feral, wolf-like creature during the full moon. The curse bestows enhanced physical abilities but also brings torment, both physical and emotional.

Transmission:

Lycanthropy is primarily transmitted through the bite or deep claw wounds inflicted by a transformed werewolf. The condition can also be passed genetically, with children born to afflicted parents inheriting the curse. These "purebloods" often exhibit greater control over their transformations.

Symptoms and Stages:

After a bite or scratch, the infected individual experiences a latency period of 2–3 days before symptoms begin to manifest.

The infected person develops a high fever, intense body aches, and a constant sense of unease.

Experienced werewolves teach newly afflicted individuals how to manage the transformation, often through meditation or exposure to silver to suppress the curse’s effects temporarily.

Some use magical talismans, enchanted cloaks, or specially constructed sanctuaries to block the influence of the full moon.  

Potion Remedies:

Alchemical concoctions can reduce the pain of transformation or suppress the curse for a short time.
