Demonic corruption

Definition:

Demonic Corruption arises when a mage or mortal forms a pact with a demon or comes into prolonged contact with infernal energies. Unlike voluntary corruption, where individuals knowingly trade parts of their essence for power, this affliction can also occur unwittingly through exposure to cursed artifacts, demonic rituals, or tainted environments. The essence of demonic power seeps into the victim, twisting their mind, body, and soul, replacing their natural energy with malevolent chaos.

Symptoms:

The corruption often begins with the opening of rifts or portals between the demonic realms and the mortal world. These rifts are born of dark rituals, forbidden spells, or simply the will of powerful Demons. When a rift forms, it becomes a conduit for demonic energies to seep into the world.  

Physical Transformation:

Early signs include darkened veins, glowing eyes with an infernal hue, and unnatural changes like claw-like nails or sharpened teeth. Advanced stages may see full physical mutations such as horns, tails, or demonic appendages.  

Mental Degradation:

Victims experience a descent into paranoia, rage, and uncontrollable urges. The demon’s influence amplifies negative emotions, causing them to lash out at allies or make reckless decisions.  

Aura of Malevolence:

The afflicted radiates an oppressive, dark energy that others can sense, making them unwelcome and feared. This aura disrupts natural Magic and may attract other demons or corrupted entities.  

Loss of Free Will:

The longer the corruption persists, the more control the demon gains over the victim. Voices whisper in their mind, compelling them to acts of destruction and cruelty.

Physical mutations become more pronounced. Infernal whispers grow louder, and the victim struggles to resist the demon’s will. Their magic becomes a chaotic, double-edged sword.

The victim becomes a puppet of the demon, losing all sense of self. Their body is completely transformed, and their magic is replaced by destructive demonic abilities. At this point, reversing the corruption is nearly impossible without divine intervention or extraordinary measures.
