Dwarf
Dwarves are a race of short, bearded humanoids. Typically standing between 4 and 5 feet in height, they are rarely seen on the surface and live a predominantly subterranean existence.
Dwarves are know for their almost unmatched ability to tunnel through stone and earth. Some reports even say that they are faster digging than they are simply walking from A to B, but these are often dismissed as exaggerations. As a concession to surface dwellers, dwarves avoid tunneling near the surface around urban areas, as left unchecked they could easily undermine the foundations of entire cities. As such, the entrances to their extensive burrows are most often seen in rural areas, particularly mountains.

Anatomy
Short, broad and hairy, dwarves are almost solid muscle, have extremely dense hard bones and teeth made of a material harder than diamond.
Ecology and Habitats
Subterranean. Dwarves live in extensive communal burrows, which are constantly expanded by their ceaseless digging.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Dwarves can eat many substances other races find imposible to digest, notably many minerals. Dwarves can tell where in the world they are by the taste of the local rock, and can derive sustenance form precious stones and various types of rock. They supplement their diet with more traditional surface foods, particularly root vegetables which are easily harvestable from underground. Dwarves are known for making a type of bread that contains several varieties of minerals, which they use to carry a balanced meal on the go.
