Summer Camp 2025 Prep
Part One
Assignment one: Non-food nourishment depends on the piece of Terra you look at. In Flora, faith in the gods can revive corpses, create magic, and allow people to survive through hard times. In Strix, nourishment is only the basic necessities of food, water, hygiene, and a bit of self-care time. In Aria, however, nourishment and even survival itself depends on blind perfection, for questioning anything can make one go completely insane.
Assignment two:
Assignment three: While this was the second world I made, it's essentially blank, so I've filled my world meta out to give this assignment a go.
Part Two
Assignment one: I'm likely going to mainly focus on Strix and Flora (specifically important things my characters are going to encounter), possibly with a few pieces of Aria, for the story in Aria is more focused on just the main character. Strix's past as a dark, almost uninhabitable society led to its people becoming resourceful and often ingenious inventors. In Flora, the gods directly shaped societies, and people fear ruining the gods' plans, so it's led to a stagnated society that repeats history over and over with all respect to the gods.
Assignment two: I could do anything to make it more. It's completely empty, not even an article in sight. I don't really care about changing it that much other than adding more articles, for the appearance of my world isn't too important to me at the moment.
Assignment three: Looking at my first worldbuilding project, Hunig, I could definitely add more specific examples covered by
Part Three
Assignment one: Imperfections are slowly creeping into Aria's perfection, and society is trying to quash them. In Flora, governments and the views humans and similar have of other species are slowly changing from hostility and indifference to pacifism. This view is also progressing through war. Strix, however, creates new ideas every era but does not actively evolve in their viewpoints or physical forms.
Assignment two: I'm probably grossly misinterpreting this assignment, but I was looking through some drawings on social media to try and answer this prompt, and I found this one artist, I don't remember what they were called, but they used lines that were a darker colour than the colour inside the outline, and it made the entire drawing look charmingly soft, even if the scene was harsh. I probably won't draw much for the summer camp challenge, but it's interesting and gives me an excuse to try to change and evolve my drawings so they can eventually become better.
Assignment three: The articles from the Worldbuilding Awards I read have distinct, personal voices. They aren't impersonal or just stating facts, but they have the opinions of a narrator. I don't know how to implement that into my own writing since I don't have a character actively travelling between Aria, Flora, and Strix, but it's still inspiring nonetheless.
Part Four
Assignment one: The imperfect people of Aria are, albeit usually accidentally, working to destablish the current system of perfection. Wars and pacifists in Flora are working to unite with the other species to create a more peaceful world, one that, even if the people don't know it in the present, will lead to a future similar to the one in the real world. The people of Strix are working to create an easier future or to escape from their underground environment.
Assignment two: Since I don't really have anything going on in July, I'm mainly just going to write whenever I feel like it. Unfortunately, I don't have any articles to reset, but that is something interesting to keep in mind. I'll probably take the time to finish Queen Leethe and Strix (two articles over fifty words that I can't reset but are crucial to Flora and Strix, respectively). I can't think of any research I need for writing since it's a high fantasy setting, with Flora possibly being the exception (albeit with no information immediately and visibly needed).
Assignment three: I might have some of my family nudge me at times, but no one around me uses World Anvil, so I can't really do any checks with anyone else. I'm decent at pacing myself when I have free time like I do now, so I don't really need to be nudged, I don't think.
A blank canvas is the perfect thing for summer camp - go and build that world! Best of luck this summer camp and may the prompts be ever in your favor. Small note regarding images: This might help you to add those in (if you're still wondering that is)
