Vorg at The Island of Voices
Notes from Vorg's adventures from 7.13.5011 - present.
----Game notes----
Vorg examines The Prophet's psy-amplifer machine.
builds a life-support machine to ensure the Prophet keeps live while he's extracted from the machine.
Spends a day giving the Prophet intensive medical treatment (heals the Prophet fully) but the Prophet remains in a coma for unknown reasons.
Vorg dismantles the Prohpet's machine (over days).
Discovers a strange collection of items, including a black Obelisk (later destroyed by DeLandry for being a cursed artefact) and 81, 9cm cubes of unknown purpose.
Vorg spends a full day investigating the 81 cubes, discovered many properties of them. Keeps 4, leaves the rest with DeLandry.
Vorg is given the Mechanicus message DeLandry was carrying - it contains info and details on the bio-digital plague that afflicts the Mechanicus and sends them obsessively insane over time. The plague "sleeps" in technology, particularly advanced tech, and infects Mechanicus that investigate it. Vorg has the 200 years of notes on attempts to make antivirals and research into the plague.
Vorg scanned himself and discovered he doesn't have the plague.
Vorg considered the other Mechanicus he'd met (those on the Eater) and considered that they may well have been infected causing them to become obsessive about their specialist areas of interest.
Vorg talks with DeLandry about the state of the Raakata System over many days.
Tells DeLandry about the 'brain bugs' and learns that DeLandry doesn't know what they are, she suggests capturing one and doing experiments.
Learns that the system is cut-off by a permanent warp storm, but that it's kept out of the system by an ancient (millions of years old) archaic device around the sun that's projecting a Telethesic Ward across the entire system that makes it hard (but not impossible) for Chaos to manifest, particularly focussed near the inner planet (Raakata Primus).
The Lord Protector studied the tech for "a thousand years" and learned how to make inferior copies (they took hundreds of years to make). Placed one on each planet of the system, each projected a field that covered a decent chunk of the system, ensuring Chaos was kept out for thousands of years.
The Ork war destroyed some wards, others were destroyed (presumably) by Chaos influenced-cults as the pressure of war destablised the entire system.
DeLandry recently discovered that the only Telethesic Ward left functioning is the one located on Tartarus (moon of Hades) - which is why the people of the Ithacan Star League have managed to survive relatively chaos-free for all this time.
There are many (possibly thousands) of other survivor groups all over the system with populations ranging from a few hundreds to several thousands, but all of them are exposed to "Whispers from the Warp" without the protection of the full Telethesic Shields which has strange effect (belief becomes manifest reality, for better or worse).
DeLandry is very disturbed by the two Ork fleets threatening Tantalus. She tells Vorg there are Orks everywhere, but they are usually smaller warbands and raiding parties, no-where else is there such an organised Waaagh taking place, and she wondered why they are focusing so heavily on Tantalus, it looks like they bypassed other targets to get there. She suspects a new Warboss may have arisen with some unknown Orkish strategy.
DeLandry confirms that the 'warmines' were definitely not used during the war, and they aren't anywhere else in the system, they must be something local.
Vorg suggests the brain bugs may have infected the Orks, Delandry says that's worth investigating.
DeLandry is interested in learning as much as possible about this area before deciding on next steps. Tells Vorg that she can't help with the Orks, but the survivors will be stronger for fighting the Orks, which DeLandry is in favour of (survival of the fittest).
Vorg travels with Toros Umboldt aboard the Pride of the Void to the Eater to collect logs from the bridge on the path the Eater took through the Graveyard and discover more about what happened to the Mechanicus aboard.
While there Vorg discovered that some Forsaken have started to land on the Eater and are fighting the murder-servitors there (determined there's a low-risk of the Forsaken managing to take the Eeater any time soon).
Vorg returns to the Island of Voices as Toros needs to do other jobs for DeLandry.
Vorg and several Westguard take The Prophet (in a coma) to the Stormbird Titanus. The Westguard are locals and experienced at living the Graveyard and can help Vorg navigate. They set a course for Tantalus to get the Prophet better medical care.
Estimated Journey time approx 6-7 days (best case). Estimated arrival time at Tantalus 7.31-8.1.5011 (around the time the Sleastatt Fleet will be attacking the Ork fleet).
Vorg determines he's in no rush, and wants to avoid getting stuck in a spacebattle, so will reassess when they get closer.
The Stormbird Titanus' path will take them past Stormport, so they will be able to get a local news update from there too.
