The Powers of the Imperium Minoris
The Imperium Minoris is a vast machine made up of many divisions and sub-divisions of authority, power, and responsibility. In addition to the many layers of organisation within the Imperium Minoris, there are countless more that exist outside the official architecture of power. Within Raakata, multitudes of such groups compete for power across the sector and beyond, into the unexplored reaches of space surrounding it. Official Imperial representatives, local agencies and rulers, unofficial cliques, heretical sects, and even xenos forces vie for power, and often an Acolyte’s survival lies with who he knows, who he can turn to for support, and who is actively seeking his death. Below is a list of the most commonly known power factions with the Imperium Minoris. Note that it is not complete, for there are many other organisations that might operate only in a single solar-sector or colony, or could rise due to changing circumstances.
Aeldari (Ynnari): The mysterious Xenos occasionally seen in Raakata
Caliphate Houses: The vast bureaucracy of the Imperium Minoris that administers its domains consisting of the High-Noble houses: Timberford, Bridebard, Albinne, Crellon, Baraqu, Guignes, Sarrasseau, Minos, Ithacaran, Crassius, Westguard, Macharius.
Dynstic Houses: The many lesser Houses vying for status and power.
Exiles/Legionary: (Adeptus Astartes): Genetically enhanced, power-armoured angels of death specific to the Imperium Minoris.
Ithacan Star League Navy: The forces of warships that defend the Outer Reaches in the name of the Star League.
Sleastatt Alliance: The High-Noble houses, lesser Dynasties and civilians that maintain Imperial customs in the Outer Reaches territories.
Sleastatt Navy: The forces of warships that defend the Outer Reaches in the name of the Imperium.
Tantalus Assembly: The civilian democratic government that administers the Ithacan Star League. The Assembly council consists of 30 members. 29 of them are elected from the population of Tantalus and 1 is an Admiral from the Military. In the past there were also representatives from Niobe station and the Minoan Dynasty sitting on the Assembly Council.
Tantalus Deck Crews: The many thousands of work-crews that repair, refuel, resupply ships at Tantalus Docks.
Privateer Alliance: Freelance contract workers at Tantalus. Typically bounty hunters, transport, courier, anti-piracy, security, etc.
Ithacan Star League: Now officially disbanded, the Star League controlled the Outer Reaches, fought back pirates and Orks and created a set of laws that allowed civilisation to flourish in the aftermath of the Ork War. It was a government structure made up of the Ithacan Navy, The Corporations, and the Assembly of Tantalus combined with the various smaller outposts and independent colonies that signed into the protection of the Star League. In 5011 this is mostly Tantalus and Pandareus.
Corporations: Large organisations that often function like smaller governments within Tantalus. Some corporations have specific focuses, others are very general. The major corporations are: Guild of Merchants and Prospectors, NERV, Privateer Alliance, Tantalus News Network, Sisyphus Geosciences, Golden Labyrinth, Veidt Industries, Paradise Holding Company, Wallace Corporation, Yoyodine, Tintally Envirosciences, Palaimon Construction Partners, and the Aquillan Society.
Revolutionaries: The various terrorist organisations that work against the establishment.
Minoan Dynasty: A charter member of the Ithacan Star League operating from Pandareus Voidstation around Hades. Known to be reclusive and fiercely territorial but a peaceful trade system between Tantalus and Pandareus has existed for almost a century.
Imperial Centre (Aquillan Society): After the Truth March the Aquillan Society emerged from the shadows supported by a significant number of wealthy individuals. With popular support and significant funding they established Imperial Centre at Tantalus. An organisation and a building aimed at restoring the Imperial History of Tantalus to the people. Very rapidly the Aquillans have become very powerful.
The Cartels: Differing from simply the underworld crime, the Cartels are Organised Crime taken to extremes. They are closer to the Corporations in structure, but willing to break any rule to gain power.
