Ronghua (Jon-Gwa)
Ronghua is a resource world located in the Malfian Sub-Sector of the Calixis Sector, it is the only notable planet in the system, and as such the system and planet share the same name. It's a relatively unassuming world that often falls beneath notice in discussions of important locations - yet it plays an important part in the ongoing governance of the Calixis Sector.
Ronghua was settled long before the rise of the Imperium. There is a single Hive on the world, fully 4/5th of which is submerged beneath the planet-spanning ocean. The once-Spire of the Hive pokes above the water, and over millennnia a 'floating' city has grown around the spire. Rising from the Spire is a tether that stretches to orbit where a huge star-fortress spreads out into the void.
The Spire itself is home to the Dynastic rulers of Ronghua, while the city of Quihan (che-han) serves as a sprawling bureaucratic administration centre. Something about the flow of the Empyrean tides through the Malfian Sub allowed Astropaths stationed on Ronghua to more easily collect and sort messages sent throughout the sector. Ronghua found itself the focal point of the Askellion Sector expansion's Astropathic relays, and has remained an important link the galaxy-spanning network of astro-telepathic communications ever since.
The Tether is a marvel of engineering, and dates back to the earliest settlement of the Askellion Sector. enormous fast-moving freight and personnel elevators thunder up-and-down the Tether continually. Traffic is so dense that there is a large Tether community that lives, works and dies riding the various elevators and platforms. The Spire, Tether and the Celammarr star-fortress are all laced with telemetric skeins, turning the entire 600km long Tether-and-Celammarr structure into an astropathic antenna.
The Ocean world itself (outside of the billions living in the Quihan Hive-city) is lightly populated by Imperial standards. Artificial city-islands have grown up to support the ancient traditional fishing industry that supplies a fraction of the necessary food to Quihan, but most importantly farms the aquatic Kinren Snakes for silk - a much sought-after luxury organic thread that's highly valued in the textile industry.
