Revenant-Pattern Stormbird

Stormbird is a catch-all term that refers to a series of various super-heavy dedicated attack landers that were once used by the Legiones Astartes as their primary means of deploying forces into combat. Stormbirds also served in air support and general planetary transport roles during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras in the late 30th and early 31st Millennia. The Revenant-Pattern is common in the Raakata system and is still actively used in the Imperial Navy.

Plasma sub-light Drive System

Efficient short-range thrust ratio, but unsuitable for long-range transport. Can cross 1 sector square every 1 days (Travel Map). Typical travel time from Mandeville Point to Star approx 3 Months.  

Spacecraft

This vehicle may enter the atmosphere of suitable planets. While in the atmosphere it will operate as a flyer. It gains all benefits and drawbacks of flyers. When operating as a flyer, it must be moving at least half its cruising speed at all times lest it begin a terminal dive to the earth below. If it becomes completely immobilised due to damage, count the vehicle as destroyed instead as it crashes to the ground (or begins to fall out of the sky in a terminal dive).  

Vector Thrust Engines

The vehicle may count as a Skimmer (and follow all the rules for a Skimmer) for up to 3 Minutes before it must return to counting as a Flyer. It may do this once every hour. This is to allow fine-tuning upon landing.  

Weaponry

All weapons are designed to be operated by dedicated gunners and weapons controllers. Standard Revenant-Pattern armament consists of 2x Ball-Turret mounted heavy weapons port & Starboard and 2x wing-mounted weapons on either side, often missile pods. The Revenant-Pattern is designed to be flexible, and can be reconfigured in many different ways to accommodate different loadouts.  

Void Shields

Void Shields absorb damage entirely (ignore Penetration). Once the total damage taken equals the shield rating, the Void Shield collapses. Roll a d100 at the end of each turn the shield is down (after the first): Each Round the shield gains a cumulative10% chance to restart at full strength.

Cargo Transport

The standard Revenant-Pattern has a large hold that can be easily refitted to suit mission profiles. By default the bay is large enough to This ship can carry 200 standard troops and gear packed in close, or 4 Commercial Cargo Containers or equivalent.
