Aeldari Player Characters Info

Aeldari Player Characters know the following secrets:

Ancient history (M38 - 582.M41)

  • Raakata is a Webway Nexus, although heavily damaged by time.
  • There is a massive ancient structure around the Raakata Sun, probably from the War in Heaven era, but it’s been altered and changed over the millennia by other races.
  • Deep under the surface of Raakata Primus are large, very ancient structures. The Aeldari believe these date from the War in Heaven and later, likely being used for millennia afterwards by ancient ancestors of the Aeldari.
  • The Human Hive city of Thaleia is built over the largest of these ruins.
  • The Ruinous Powers worked hard to conceal the Raakata System ever since the Age of Strife, particularly Tzeentch. For a long time Raakata was considered swallowed by the warp.
  • The Aeldari took notice when humans started appearing in the Webway in this area about 3,000 years ago - many battles were fought (within the webway) between the Aeldari and humans (humans lost and withdrew) - the Aeldari traced them back to Raakata and found the Warp Storms had been (somehow) pushed back from the system.
  • Very occasionally Aeldari Corsairs or Drukhari would use the webway to enter Raaakta, but they found the system well defended by humans and there’s easier sport elsewhere.

Ork War (582.M41 - 872.M41)

  • The Orks attacked Raakata in the Imperial year 582.M41 (429 years ago)
  • Aeldari believe that the Ruinous Powers directed the Ork space-hulk to Raakata deliberately to weaken the system’s defences.
  • The Ork Warboss’ massive ship crashed onto Thaleia in 872.M41 (139 years ago), destroying the hive and destroying all the excavations into the ruins underneath - also killing the Ork Warboss, a vast number of the remaining Orks and ending the Ork Waaagh.
  • Raakata was shattered and broken. Very, very few survivors on either side.

Rise of the Ynnari (999.M41 - present day)

  • In the 10-ish years since the 13th Black Crusade and the birth of the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Ruinous Powers have redoubled efforts to take Raakata.
  • Many of the Telethesic wards that protect Raakta have been damaged or destroyed and the influence of Choas is increasing across the system. All four Dark Gods have shown an interest, from fighting on every scale, to plagues, to pleasure cults, chaos worshipping, plots and intrigue. The unity of Imperial Raakata has been shattered.
  • Some Ynnari made a pact with the leaders of Raakata - both are fighting to stop Chaos getting whatever is under the ruins of Thaleia.
  • These Ynnari believe the 5th Cronesword might be located in the ruins under Hive Thaleia.
  • The Humans of Raakata also want something from those ruins (what, exactly, is a closely guarded secret), so for now, Aeldari and Humans here are working together in an uneasy truce.
  • While the long work continues to excavate down through the ruins of Thaleia and the Ork megaship to get to the ruins again, many Ynnari are aiding the humans of Raakata in holding back Chaos (and whatever else threatens the project).

Aeldari and DeLandry

  • DeLandry and her allies reached Raakta via the webway a year or so after the Great Rift opened after helping a group of Ynnari Harlequins elsewhere in the Koronus Expanse.
  • The Ynnari in Raakata view DeLandry as a powerful human to be respected but never truly trusted. She has essentially betrayed the Imperium in dealing with the Ynnari “for the greater good of humanity”, so they feel she is inherently untrustworthy, but she makes a powerful ally... For now.
  • The Innari call her “Seach’Saim” (illusion snake) because she knows far more than she seems and hides it under the sham of being ‘just a human’.
