Killian Estmar, 6th Duke Castillan

Overview

Killian was born to Uther of the newly minted house of Estmar on the winter solstice in 5027 SA. His father had gained wealth and repuation as a monster hunter. After saving a local baron from a devil released at a party, he was given knight status for both him and his young son. Killian falls off the record from age 5 after a meteor destroyed the small manor he and his father lived in. He popped back up in the record at the age of 20, winning a preliminary melee tournament held by his fathers old patron Duke Bomund le Croix. His honorific, Dragon Forged, was gained shortly after that. During preparations for the royal melee, he was credited with both saving the life of the Earl, one of the kings most trusted friends, as well as dispatching the dragon responsible. This event is what began his quick assention to the top of the royal court. Under king Roderic, Killian lead a number of military excursions and missions to return large parts of contested territory to the Exdale and Saxdale marches. The praise lumped on him by the court and Roderic personally, has led to a falling out with Roderic's successor Edwin. However, when the 5th Duke Castillan was killed in a slaughter with most of the nobility from that area, the Wittan overruled Edwin by appointing Killian. Though Edwin set strict rules forbidding further castle building in stone due to a lack of trust in him. Killian has spent 10 years in charge of the Northwest March, building a new city, Warminster, from scratch while funding huge works projects around his demense. It is unknown where his huge wealth originally stemmed from, but Warminster itself now garners him a large revenue in taxes.  

Personality

Killian is serious, thoughtful, and stoic. He takes his duties and his oaths seriously. He has the look and build of a young half elf with a slight dark beard and short hair. He has a long arching scar from the middle of his jaw line to his cheekbone. This was gained in his famed killing of a dragon that earned him his current epithet. He is known to be extremely kind even to the least of his vasals. He has gained a reputation as diligent administrator, consumate innovator, and for shunning ostentatious displays of wealth. His one concession to this is his normal attire of cangiante blue-black silk tunic embroidered with a silver dragon. Known hobbies include reading, inventing, hunting, and tournaments.
