Creating a character
Class
Choose a class that interests you. Do you like spell casting, do you like swinging a giant sword, is stealth your thing. This will determine your play style.Multiclassing
Multi classing allows you to level yourself in more than one of the base classes. This can allow for some cool customization, story telling and style of play, but it comes with a draw back. If you add levels in one class you do not get them in your primary class. Talk to the DM if you are interested in multiclassing and it's possibilities.Race
Choose a race that suites you. Some races do better in certain classes because of their natural abilities, but don't let that stop you from playing a Goliath Wizard. If that is what you want to do, do it. Your race and class will comprise most of who you are as a character, so choose something you are interested in sticking with.Character Sheet
Now fill in your character sheet with your character name, race, and class. Each race and class will give you features and stat boosts that you can record. Also each class will specialize in a set number of traits, keep this in mind as you go to figure out your skill points.Proficiencies
Each class and some races will give you proficiency in certain skills. For these skills your will able to add your proficiency bonus when you have a check for them in game.Ability Scores
Ability Scores determine much about your character. They are divided into Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. 10 is considered average for the normal humanoid in any score. To determine your individual ability scores you will have 27 points to spend. You may spend them in any combination you would like using the table below: Score | Cost | Modifier 6 | -2 | -2 7 | -1 | -2 8 | 0 | -1 9 | 1 | -1 10 | 2 | +0 11 | 3 | +0 12 | 4 | +1 13 | 5 | +1 14 | 7 | +2 15 | 9 | +2 16 | 12| +3 17 | na | +3 18 | na | +4Remove these ads.
