Outlander Territories
Three known forest lands that are know estalished Outlander Territories (aside from Elysian and Mycella, thus five forest total, and one capital at Meridian).
The Outlanders often utilize the dense forests as natural barriers shielding themselves from various geographical climate disasters.
Note: Elder Moss Old Growth belongs to neither the Inlanders or the Outlanders considering its inhabitable land, it is not a known settlement.
Mycella itself is a tropical palm jungle rainforest that covers the southern border of Chimera. Due to its proximity to Chimera, it can be considered an Inlander territory although Outlanders do live within the jungle forest under a technology transfer treaty. Mycella itself is the main technology hub for the outlanders, sharing R&D with Chimera. The outlander establishments, runs through the jungle as a series of interconnected overwater (over the marshland, and a subsequent jungle river, Hippolyta River) bungalows. This region is prone to rain, which makes it vulnerable for flooding and mudslides. The river level itself is controlled by a dam, which also generates electricity based on the flow of the river. Hosts Ranger Outpost Celestine, a crashed double-decker airbus suspended by vines in the air. The aircraft was reinforced and recommissioned into the Ranger Outpost.
In Elysian, the outlander infrastructure often resemble traditional treehouses, with some even built on the side of the steep mountainside with long wooden bridges or walkways connecting the buildings.
The other terriories are listed as such:
Madroness Trails: Northern Forests (resembles the pacific northwest, with a large number of cedars, alder, ponderosa, douglas fir in the northern regions and sequioa trees in the southern regions). The main intrastructure type is log cabin buildings with interconnected boardwalks. The location while shielded, suffers from extreme rainbouts and wind in the winter and can be exposed to extreme dry weather in the summer. With its proximity to Elysian, occasionally a severe thunderstrom can occur. If this is paired with strong winds and thunder, this region of the land are prone to forest fires. Hosts Ranger Outpost Incendie , and old and decomissioned large firewatch station.
HongLong Territories: Southeastern Forests containing mostly of large thick-trunked bamboo trees. Some of the trees grow so densely together with others that they tend to from a natural impenetrable wall. A key component of this region are the large lotus pads spread in its numerous ponds. This region lies near an active volcano, while the eruptions only seldomly lead to overflow of lava, often it erupts and emmits volcanic ash, which can dampen air quality. When this occurs, it can lead to ash falling (like snow) in this region, which can generate a fog and eerie effect. The bamboo forest does shield the majority of it and can purify the air but occasionally, the ash does penetrate into the forest. At the heart of this forest, lies a large sinkhole that hosts an undergroup beach and lake (filled with lotus pads). At the centre of this lake, is a large Asian temple used to worship an unknown deity (with its apex not extending above the sinkhole). The majority of the settlement are cliffside houses carved into the side of sinkhole. The rest of the settlement can be found as yurt-like structures across the forest. Host Ranger Outpost: Ryūjin, which lies under an island Asian gazebo in the middle of a pond. The pavilion doesn’t have any connecting bridges, thus the entrance is actually under water.
Hyperion Territories: Northeastern Forests which are made up of mostly large sugar maples. While despite the leaves and trees providing significant coverage in the warmer seasons. With leaves turning and shedding in the winter, the bare forests doesn’t offer much protection for people during the harsh winter snowstorms. That being said, the main style of infrastructre in this region are stone cottages. At the northern edge of this region contains various mineral mines, which serves as the main export of this region. Hosts Ranger Outpost Canary, a stone watchtower (resembling a rook chess piece) that sits at the top of a mountain (Lion’s Peak).
