Robert Langley

First Dragon Robert Langley (a.k.a. Liang Lee, Patriot,)

"All these stars were ours, we simply had to take them. But the Roswell Incident shattered all of our hopes. Now that mankind was not alone in the universe anymore, we would have to fight for each planet. My job is to ensure our success."   -Robert introducing himself to Himiko
Robert Langley (formerly Liang Lee) is one of the overarching main antagonists of TERRA AFTER EARTH. Altough not very present in the first few chapters, his influence and role in the story grow after the Second Pangalactic War.   He is the leader of a secret organization called Nine Dragons that infiltrated the United Colonies and the OUC during the colonization of the Galileo 1641-B star system. While he is on the side of humanity as a whole, his rather extremist views of human superiority are even more grotesque than those of the Federation that actually tolerated aliens. Disguised as Colonial Intelligence Agency, Langley developed high tech weapons for the OUC and even acted on their orders. However he was also secretly training an army of cronomorphs while being one himself, planning to take control over the United Colonies and gaining mankind a bigger influence within the galaxy.

Physical Description

Special abilities

-Cronomorphosis: By turning himself into a Cronomorph using data stolen from the Covenant, Langley gained several new abilities such as self regeneration, super strength, teleportation and being able to mind control weaker Cronos. However, much like Set, Langley also suffers negative consequences as a result of not being 100% compatible with Red Matter. These include temporary paralysis and partial desintegration of tissue, making him dependent on a wheelchair despite his superhuman abilities.

Specialized Equipment

-Mr. Wheels: A sentient wheelchair thanks to its implemented AI. Mr. Wheels always seems to be accompanying Langley much like a dog and also seems to act like one overall, even letting itself get petted by Langley.

Personal history

Not much is known about Langleys life before he came to Galileo 1641-B. Originally named Liang Lee, he was born in China around the 1940s and worked as a spy during the first Cold War from 1952-2001. During that time however, he was tasked by his government with the infiltration of a secret project by the western powers: Operation Exodus. At that time, Exodus was more theorethical, as mankind still was a far cry from even thinking about flying to another star system. Nevertheless, many countries all over the globe already were freezing selected individuals to test if they would survive being comatose for several years. He was among them, having changed his name to Robert Langley as it sounded more western. His task was rather ambitious: It was clear that the western world planned to eventually leave their home system to start a new civilization several hundred lightyears away. Langley would made sure that this new society would also follow the Jade Republics doctrine of evolutionary progress and human superiority. Along with several hundred other spies, he would infiltrate any new government taht would be formed and shape it into an ally to the Republic at all costs.    Several centuries later in 3328, Langley had been woken up from cryostasis, as he was listed as personnel with experience in weapon development. He was tasked with leading a team of scientists to reverse engineer left behind Covenant technology on New Terra and Nero, forming the Colonial Intelligence Agency in the process to assert the danger that any sentient space faring species would pose to humanity.    In 3390, when Richard crashlanded with an escape pod on Nero, Langley proposed to kill the boy and to cover up all traces of his existance, as he was posing an unpredictable risk. However, fearing to spark an interstellar conflict, Overlord Karen DeWitt decided to raise the boy as a human instead. In the end, this was aiding Langley as Richard had been discovered to be a sentient bioweapon that could be replicated using his DNA. Robert infected himself with a special form of Red Matter, turning him into a Cronomorph and making him immortal.   From then on, he would start experimenting with Red Matter in order to replicate more cases like Richard, building an army that could actually defend mankind in a war against the Covenant.   During the Second Pangalactic War, he forcibly recruited Himiko Suzunari, Samuels ex girlfriend who turned into a Cronomorph following their intimate relationship. She would be the newest entry to Langleys special Taskforce "Murdered Crows", a military covert ops unit that would assist the Covenant in espionage missions in their cold war with the Azurian Hegemony.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

His main goal is humanity following the ideals of the Jade Republic, who valued transhumanism and forced evolution. In his eyes, every alien is an enemy that needs to be taken down while humanity would be the only species that had any right to claim the galaxy for itself.

Quotes & Catchphrases
"Don´t give it a name. Look at this... creature and tell me it deserved a human name. But then again, Richard Roe is not even a real name so maybe i´m not the only one uncomfortable with letting this thing roam our territory."   -Robert discussing with Jason about Richard     "Konnichiwa Mrs. Suzunari. It appears your death has been... postponed indefinitely. Your life may be worth nothing to you anymore but let me tell you that you are one of humanities most important assets now. It´d be good for you to act like it."   -Langley greeting Himiko after waking up from coma
