Michael Barnes

Michael has a rather feminine and almost angelic appearance which makes sense given that he is in fact the soul of a Nephilim stuck in a human vessel.

Since Michael is a mere human and physically rather weak, he had to improve his body with cybernetic implants such as blades he can store in his forearms or a hacking tool connected to his brain. Speaking of which, Michael also possesses a great intellect, being able to create advanced technology and weaponry which he thankfully never sold to the Federation.   Due to being infected with Lycanthropy at a young age after being exposed to a lethal dose of TNK-1, he gained the ability to turn into a Werewolf which is more of a curse than a blessing. Tough he gains all the advantages of a Werewofl, that being natural Weapons and high endurance paired with enhanced senses, he is uncontrollable in this form, going so far that he had to restrain himself in his basement whenever his meds began ease up. Unfortunately, a Lycanthropy infection before reaching the age of 18 is lethal, causing massive cellular proliferation in his entire body, tormenting him with tumors that would eventually kill him over time.

Michael was a bodyless soul being held captive by Typhon, who one day put him inside a human infant and handed it over to Peter Irons as a "Gift".   For years, Michael lived together with his newfound family in Irons palace in the center of Libertalia however that quickly changed when Michael accidently stumbled upon one of his fathers many dark secrets. One day, Michael was touring one of Irons laboratories unsupervised, where he witness a young girl being brutally lobotomized. Traumatized and angry, he confronted Irons who didn´t took this entire situation well, eventually neglecting his adoptive son.   A few years later, Michael had shown to be very intelligent, tinkering around with any piece of technology he could find, eventually becoming an inventor. After he got a PhD at just 17 years of age in engineering, he was offered a job by his father to develop robots for combat purpose, but Michael turned down the offer, not wanting to support any more of Irons cruel operations. Instead, Michael applied for a job as a professor, sharing his knowledge rather than letting his Father abuse it. He wasn´t happy however, as his inability to stop his father was causing him to become depressed. His only way of dealing with his frustration was to leak information he stole from the Federation to the Shrouded Wolves, a military mercenary group that was tolerated by the Federation, yet had secret plans to undermine it in fear of Irons starting an intergalactic war.   To achieve this goal, Michael planned to infiltrate the Minutemen, the Federations highest military circle, by becoming a superhero himself, as the Minutemen were seen as such. He created a combat armor that would not only enable him to fight but also to fly at high velocities, assuming the role of an alter ego called Gambler. As Gambler, he tried to get the Minutemens attention by wiping out Goethia swarms or by dissolving crime syndicates and other terrorist organizations.   All of that had to wait however, as his Artemis-Armor had been severely damaged and he had to buy some new uranium rods from a merchant far from Janairo in the Australian Outback. Unfortunately, there was a secret lab under the settlement where a powerful Cronomorph called Eva was held captive. As Michael was buying replacement parts, she managed to escape but got cornered by soldiers. In a panic attack, she summoned an Yggdrassil, a large tree attracting swarms of Goethia who ravaged the settlement. Michael who managed to survive thanks to his armor, mistook Eva for a survivor and brought her back to Janario where she introduced herself as Alexandra Stirling, the girl Michael saw years back in Irons laboratory.   This was the beginning of Michaels story in TERRA AFTER EARTH: STARS OF LIBERTY.

After getting his PhD, Michael applied for a job at a small private military company called The Shrouded Wolves where he would maintain their equipment or accomany their members on missions. Usually, these missions had nothing to do with the Federations affairs, mostly being simple escort or delivery missions for private folk.    On delivery missions, he´d often escort local Pizza delivery girl Milla Shepard along with her brother Emil Shepard and his defective combat androud Mendoza.

Michaels motivation is to stop his father once and for all, as he thinks that a man who tortures children should never be allowed to lead a nation. By replacing his father as the leader of the Federation, Michael hopes that humanity might be able to utilzed his inventions to help others, rather than to wage war.
