Rasel Sabik - First Headmaster of Terminus
Founder, Headmaster Rasel Sabik (a.k.a. "The Professor")
Rasel Sabik was a researcher and inventor born in what would be later known as Terminus. He was one of the three founders of The Tower of Progress alongside Lyra Niandao and Tairan Horos. When the three went their own ways and split, Rasel was the only one who remained at the Tower of Progress.
Rasel took this opportunity to alter the Tower of Progress, converting it into Terminus High University. This change revolutionised education, making high level courses more widely available for the common person, and prompted the wider spread of information. It also created the largest wealth of information on the Outer Plateaus at the time, and is still ahead in the field to this day. The "Day of Invention" - originated by him and his two co-founders - is still a national holiday in the modern era, now being an opportunity for modern researchers to present their own findings and inventions on a wide scale.
Rasel is also known as one of the earliest explorers of Var Nexa, alongside Lyra and Tairan. They would've been known as Seekers in the modern day, however the term didn't exist at the time.
It is for these reasons that Rasel is known as one of the most influential people in history, debatably edging out his two co-founders, who changed the course of history due to the oppotunities for peoples studies and advancement in research Terminus High University provided.
Holidays
"The Day of Invention:" A holiday created after Rasel, Lyra and Tairan spent a collective 18 hours displaying multitudes of research to the publicin the budding The Tower of Progress' forum - built specially for the three to show off their work. When one finished presenting their work, another would exit their studies with something of their own, in an attempt to one up who ever was prior. This became such a grand affair that to the modern day the city holds a national holiday on the anniversery, and the University hosts presentations, lectures and demonstrations to show their reveal their new work to the world.
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Rasel is associated with the image of a twisted serpent, often around a staff. This is seen on his research journals, which typically have the image on the cover, and it was often used as a signature seal for Rasel to show his acknowledgement of something.

Education
It isn't known exactly what education Rasel had, however it is likely that he had a similar education to most youths of the day, attending his local school to be educated in a range of areas.
In his teen years Rasel studied under Gerasim, an Emblem Reader who, outside of the core necessities for his profession, was a generalist in mathematics, history and geography. However it is noteworthy that the few surviving accounts of Gerasim primarily come from recordings of discussion with Rasel, noted by himself to be written decades after Gerasim's death.
Following this, Rasel was known to educate himself through exploration and experimentation. In particular he had regular discussions with his contemporaries, Lyra and Tairan, where they discussed one another progressed and shared information.
Employment
Post education, Rasel opted not to become an Emblem Reader like his mentor. Instead he was primarily known as an explorer and researcher.
He earned money through selling materials and information discovered while exploring, which would fund him when creating inventions, which he would sell to fund further explorations. In particular he was known for his map creation, a skill picked up from his mentor, which was one of his biggest earners in his early career. He created some of the more detailed maps of the Outer Plateaus available at the time, which were in use decades after he created them, and some of the earliest still surviving maps of Var Nexa.
As his fame gradually grew, he began to be invited to present and talk to prominent figures, who would often host and provide funds when entertained.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Rasel's greatest accomplishment was the creation of The Tower of Progress and converting it into Terminus High University. This act is considered one of the greatest advancements in education, forming one of - if not - the first institutes of Higher Education, and included a wide array of subjects such as biology, geography, linguistics, mathematics, history and many more subjects.
He was notable for his studies in these fields, though particularly in cartography, geography and astronomy. Rasel was one of the two minds behind Astrolobes*, along with Tairan Horos, providing the information necessary for their use in navigation.
*Astroblobes are small devices typically worn in the pocket or on the wrist. They're used as Star Charts and allow the calculation of astronomical problems by measuring the altitude of celestial bodies. They're commonly used in navigation, particularly by Seekers, and are still common items to the modern day.

Intellectual Characteristics
Open minded, creative, well read and reflective. Rasel embodies the characteristic focus and understanding needed to study the land and stars, then turn that information into something tangible. He reportedly thought further ahead than his contemporaries, which allowed him to create his school.
