Orbital: Placement Emblem

Written by Arger Growler

Orbital is a Placement type Emblem that causes an orbital force to be placed onto the object in relation to the user. How this force is exerted depends on the mass of the object relevant to the user, determining the "centre of gravity" (i.e. Objects with less mass than the user will orbit them, but if an object has more mass then the user will orbit it).   The user can "push" and "pull" on this orbital path mentally (by decreasing or increasing the force of gravity that acts on the object respectively), resulting in the object moving further from or closer to the "centre." However, the object must still follow an orbital pattern (i.e. the user can push the orbital path of an object away from themselves, but the object will still move in a circular pattern with the user as the centre). The user can dispel an orbit at will, at which point momentum is kept but the "centre of gravity" is effectively shifted back to normal conditions (typically the planet).   The closer an object is to the "centre" the faster it moves, with the opposite being true for objects that are further away. However, momentum is carried (so an object can be accelerated by bringing it close to the centre, then "pushed" away while carrying the same velocity).   As orbits move along the same plane, unless something acts on an object, it will continue to orbit in that plane (i.e. If something begins orbiting vertically around the "centre" this cannot them change to move horizontally, unless it is influenced by something else).

Effect

Any object with the Emblem placed on it will be placed under an orbital force. Dependent on the mass of the user relative to the object, whichever has greater mass will become the centre of gravity that the other will orbit. This orbital force supercedes normal gravity

Manifestation

As a Placement type Emblem, a copy of the Emblem is placed on the affected object. Specficially being an alteration type, the Emblem is white on a black background.   To the user, they can "feel" the objects that are in orbit, as if they were attached to the users Emblem by an invisible string and they could feel the object pulling on them.   Techniques: Users use technique names as "habits" to make carrying them out easier. Orbital's technique names are based on words associated with orbits.

Gestures & Ritual
Orbital, as a Placement type Emblem, requires the user "place" a copy of their Emblem on the object to be effected. This requires physical contact to be made.

Effect Duration
Placement type Emblems function until the user removes the Emblem (either consciously or when knocked unconcious).
Effect Casting Time
Instantaneous.
Range
Touch (initiate). Infinite (as orbits are based on gravity, there is technically no limit in range. However, the further from the user the weaker the force, which can result in the effects being unnoticable).
