03. Deities of Teria

"You don't believe in gods?" Doren sipped her wine "Like not even your, what's his name? Scribe?"

Orshen rolled his eyes "I'm Shru" he sighted resigned "My family lived in Paashils for generations"   The woman chewed on her cheek "I asked about your faith, not heritage. Sorry if I offended you"   "It's fine. I had a weird customer this morning, might be irritated" orc put his head down and scratched his neck "Sorry" he straighten up and put his palms around the ale mug "Yes, I don't believe in gods. But I do believe in powerful beings. Demons, for one. Arcanists. I just think gods are that - powerful beings, and people see their power and kneel before them, pleading for help"   "Well, yeah" Doren snorted "What is a god if not that?"   "They don't care. Unless you make it worthwhile, in case of demons. Also Arcanists" Orshen smirked   "Careful, man" she elbowed him   "And the God? She doesn't care either way, she does what she wants anyway" orc shrugged and took a sip "What's the point in praying?"   "I knew a guy" Doren pointed finger in his nose "A paladin. Blind God's one, at that"   "How that worked for him?" Orshen shook his head and groaned "Poor sod"   "He didn't speak a lot. Quiet fellow. Purposeful, would be the word" she scratched her chin and focused on the beverage "Could do weird stuff though. Seemed... I dunno. Divine. Seemed like the Blind God does give a shit after all"   "Right" Orc shifted and sniffed "As for our little investigation..."   "I have no other option, Vith is our best shot" girl rubbed her forehead   "He's a loyalist, Miara" Orshen cried   "He's not an idiot. Noone wants next war. He'll pull this off"

Arcana Empire and Provinces

In general, the people of Arcana are monotheists. There's one God, they have a form of a young woman with fair hair, and are covered in cloth bandages flowing behind, resembling wings. God has several aspects - they are connected and intertwined, although very different from each other. God is Blind, Pained, and Bleeding. Blind God is focused on the task and doesn't concern themselves with the world, or its people. They don't interfere with this world's affairs, nor care for reverence. Bleeding God is a benevolent aspect, they try to heal the civilizations as well as individuals, or the environment, often at the cost of their own well-being. Bleeding God has bandages soaked with blood. Pained God is a creature full of sorrow, and rage that comes from it, they are violent and sadistic towards others. Pained God's flesh is torn by spikes and blades, they have steel crown resembling horns.   Because of the Blind God aspect, the faith is marginalized and rarely practiced. Pious individuals tend to revere either Bleeding or Pained aspect, although some would argue that being focused and ignoring religion is the true way of a Blind God.

Kori Deities

Dominion of Kori has a huge pantheon and thousands of holy texts. The Dominion spanned across almost all of Teria, it incorporated all of the religions of various cultures. There's the god of Light - known as Ingmur in texts from Aria Era, and Bezzus, in texts from Bru Era. Some scholars believe, its Ylath's Ishia, or Legrun's Grud.   There are six Phax demon gods: Drir, the Shadow; Sleekz, the Fiery Maw; Herk, the Eater; Sug, the Fleshrender; Vit, the Mourning One, and the most important one - 'Ajkanih, the Dead One.   Shru's God, because that's what they call the deity that came from the west of Trat, is not spoken of. Kori doesn't openly shun other faiths, but the conflict with Arcana Empire took its toll, texts mentioning Shru's God are not available, and temples are treated as companies and taxed as such.

'Ajkanih, the dead god

Not god of death. Just a demon that died. The most important Kori god, his dominion is information, and they still make blood sacrifices to it. I have no idea how it works, but Kori use its corpse in their tech. Ask a Phax?

Etersian Pantheons

Every single culture has its own pantheon, there are several notable mentions. Ylath, naval elves, mostly pirates, revere elemental gods, but the most important one is the night god - Ishia, who governs tides and helps navigators.   Yotunn, gentle giants, and craftsmen arachnids dwelling in the mountain regions cherish the goddess of fertility, warmth, and light, but the most important one is the god of trade - Maya.   Legrun, the most technologically advanced people, orcs, are quite religious, the head of the pantheon is the Scribe - the god of logic.   There's little known about Sharbar, the dwarven people, but it's assumed their pantheon revolves around animals and beasts, they are mostly a druidic nation.   Even less is known about Narion - wild elves, their sentient sacrifices call for some sort of malevolent deities.   Human tribes of Eters are heavily influenced by both Arcana and Kori religions.

Awakening Gods

There are several other cults, that are gaining traction. There are lesser deities revered across Arcana Empire, most of them come from other cultures. Some of them come from tales, others from traveling holy men.

Niksha

A cult of a serpent god of magic. The main principle is that everyone has some form of magical power, that needs to be awakened.

Mor'oth, the Infinite Ender

God of cycles from Kori, cultists believe Teria is going through an infinite number of cycles in which civilizations are raised and destroyed by this demon deity.

The Scribe

Orcish god of logic. Since Arcana Empire raise to power, the pursue of knowledge and technological advancement is the goal of many Shur people. Legrun are xenophobic, but Scribe was interesting enough to pray to.

Breixar

Elven god of mirrors, water, reflections, crystals, and portals. Travel by magic, communication, scrying. Cultists are against technological advancement.

Zarnan, the Constructor

Demonic god of dimensions and time. Its domain is transformation, changes of structure, atom level, particles, alchemy, and technology.
