Vampires

Written by BloodAndLeaves

A species created from the corrupted Dark Magic wielded by Vander, vampires survive through the drinking of life from another creature. Vander created the species from humans, mostly, and other humanoid creatures who were unfortunate enough to fall into his grasp. The new species became dependent on Vander to supply their bloodlust and protection. For his own benefit, they became his army. In order to provide enough blood for his growing army, Vander conquered Terdja, all of Terdja.

The vampires became feared and would prey on any creature they found if they were thirsty enough. In order to keep the world from being slaughtered, vampires raised not only cattle and other livestock for blood but also forced other creatures to give blood tributes to nearby vampire bases.

Vampires are immortal. They can live for as long as they have a supply of blood. Formed by dark magic, vampires cannot allow direct sunlight to touch their skin and brightness is uncomfortable for their eyes. Even though they are immortal in the sense that they don't age, they can be killed by relatively simple means. Any mortal wound would kill them. Their senses are more acute than a human's but not as much as a werewolf's. Vampires rely on blood to keep their bodies functioning more than other creatures that need food. A vampire can only survive three weeks without blood, but they don't need water. Vampires can eat other food, but it isn't as healthy for them. Vampire lives depend on blood from other creatures which makes them the more hated species in Terdja.

Vampires hate werewolves and would love to see them exterminated. Many vampires live by a "kill on sight" for werewolves and will murder lone wolves or small packs for fun. Werewolves often insult vampires using the term "bloodsucker" while vampires return the insult by calling them "dogs." Peace between the species is not only impossible but also forbidden. That's why vampires bitten by wolves are immediately killed and hybrids of the two species are an abomination.

Vampires have many abilities that other creatures do not possess. The older and more experienced a vampire is, the more powerful he is. A power that all vampires are born with is the transformation into a vampire bat. Other abilities include supernatural strength, heightened senses, limited telekinesis, and some psychological manipulation. Devesta can take memories in a creature's mind and alter them into nightmares but he can't put original thoughts into their minds.

Vampire Lords have an extra form in addition to their humanoid and bat forms. This form is a monster form that they earn with the title of Lord. The form combines the physic of the humanoid form with the nightmarish looks of the bat form. They stand 50% taller, have huge bat wings, all teeth become sharp, and their eyes become yellow. A vampire lord in this form is a formidable foe, but still vulnerable to any lethal injury.

Vampires in their humanoid form usually have pale skin, like a corpse, and grey or light blue eyes. Their finger nails can lengthen into claws at will and their canine teeth are always long and sharp, those cannot retract. They like to wear long coats of dark colors: scarlett, black, grey, brown, etc. Their shirts and pants are styled formally in those colors. Females prefer to wear pants over dresses unless for feasts and celebrations, then they wear beautiful formal gowns of extravigant colors.

Transformation

When a vampire transforms from his bat form into his humanoid form, only his long coat covers his body. The long coat spreads out into the wings and transforms back into the coat, so a vampire is naked under the coat after being a bat. Same with werewolves, even if they are not wearing a coat, they can still become a bat and a new coat forms from the wings upon transforming back to the humanoid. The transformation doesn't require a coat but will use it if available.
