About

The proud people of Meslas thrive over the very lifeblood of magic that feeds the whole of tenegrim. Dedicated to the study and understanding of the world and the magics throughout, the Meslasi are formitable in their use of intelligence to combat complex issues both within or outside of their borders.   Established with the same model of a monarchy with a nobility, Meslas did eventually move away from their origins and embraced the more magic centric government and culture, leading to the expanse and development of their people in culture.  

Origin Story

After the departure of their creator and his consort to the northern area of Tenegrim, many of the original kingdom would journey on a pilgrimage to find them once again. Those that would become the Meslasi ventured north west through the volcanic lands that would be known as Zridale.   Hardy, determined and equipped with the basic knowledge of how to bend the magic around them to their making, the Meslasi would be met with the unknown as they encountered the Iliri, returning to land after the departure of Kane in hopes of reclaiming part of their home and reuniting with their cousins the Amaiyan.   Conflict would arise between the two as they both set their eyes on the fertile land. A compromise was quickly found as the longer lived Iliri realized that the very humans they were unfamiliar with held knowledge and a difference that could aide them in cultivating an area for them to thrive.   With peace struck, the kingdom of Meslas was established with elf and human living side by side and erecting the first kingdom dedicated to the magic and knowledge that would carry on through the ages despite the trials and tribulations they would face.  

Attributes

Due to the imbuement of the very magic that the live above, the Meslasi have a near similar lifespan to their elven allies. Along with a more lithe built and natural metabolism, the Meslasi who are naturally gifted with magic are born with markings that range in color and design across their skin. Their eyes vary in color but some are born with a limbal ring that matches the color of the markings they are born with and can dim or brighten depending on the magical influence.   Though there is a variety in their society, there focus of attempting to raise ones family out of their current setting by the study of magic and the inheritance of magical abilities. A constant thirst for knowledge and a desire to utilize it to shift a personal paradigm has led to most of the internal struggles between the Meslasi.  

Society

Meslasi society is focused heavily on the strengthening of a bloodline. This is mostly focused on the magical aptitude that a good chunk of the society is born with along with a desire to prove ones dedication to the country and its people. This nationalism is seen as odd to most and is seen as slightly fanatical outside of Meslas and the Meslasi people. But due to how hard won their kingdom and the threats that they faced, there is a sense of unity that every Meslasi shares.   While such an idea of loyalty to their kingdom taints some interactions, they are very open to those that wish to come into the borders of Meslas and exchange ideas, cultures, and differences. They are always looking for ways to improve their kingdom and find ways to expand their knowledge.   Neither matriarchal or patriarchal, the family system of Meslas is based around the wisest or more powerful. Generations have looked to both male and female mages in the past due to their capabilities. A nod towards the old king and queen system is given but seen as more of a novelty than a respect for the old ways.

Naming Conventions

Meslasi names are a mixture of the original tongue of Amican and Elvish to make elegant names. Family names are incredibly important to those of magically blessed families. More rural areas still adhere to family names but will change or merge them through the generations if they marry into a higher class.
