Ambrosius Macabees Willet

Ambrosius Macabees Willet was born to the Aelvise, from an Aelvise woman of some ancient repute, though her family had fallen from grace for their consorting -- in both the philosophical and most carnal of ways -- with the Sluagh.   Ambrosius was one of those pairings, but the woman's uncle, who was trying to restore their standing, killed her Sluagh consort and intended to kill the child as well. The consort's family, alerted by the first strike against him, could not save the consort, but managed to spirit away the child, leaving a magical simulacrum in his place -- it was this simulacrum that the woman's uncle killed. Ambrosius was taken through the Dormeau Arch from Dark Underhill to Earth.   On Earth, the Sluagh sought out a certain Morgazi Vhampir whose family had been seeking to put an end to a certain lineage of the Aelvise... in particular, the Uncle's lineage of Astolat. A Visionary among the Sluagh -- a sightless witch who called herself Hecate, after the dark goddess -- told the Sluagh that this child would fulfill a prophecy that would bring an end to the House of Astolat, though she did not say how. All she said was that the child had to be taken and trained in Sorcery among the Vhampir, by a certain Morgazi Shapeshifter who bore the shadow of the Pendragon. The only thing the Sluagh had brought with the boy was his name. The young man's name, when taken back to its Celtic roots, was translated as Myrddin, Son of Death. One day, without telling him why, while he was barely old enough to sit up on his own, yet, she let the young foundling play in her belongings -- in particular, with a box of nondescript crystals that she kept in a drawer. He did not know that she was testing his magics, for a child of Aelvise and Sluagh was bound to be powerful in all things Grey, but it was -she- who was shocked when it was Myrddin's crystal that sang at the boy's touch.
